Hello. I'm looking for information on the 1010 Army Air Corps stationed in Atlantic City, New Jersey during WWII. My grandfather was part of them and I can't find any information about them. None!

The National Archives place had zero information on the 1010 or my grandfather. All of his records burned in the 1973 fire. Is there any other place I can look for his records? I contacted the Veteran's Association and they couldn't help me either. Also, this is might be a strange question, but is there any way I can find out the names of other men (living) in the 1010 AAC who might have served with my grandfather? Just wondering because I would love to hear stories about my grandpa. My grandfather died so I have to dig around.

May I ask, what is your source that your grandfather was assigned to the "1010 Army Air Corps"? Also, is it possible that your grandfather was assigned to the 1010th AAF Base Unit?

I have his original honorable discharge paper that says his name and unit. And yes, you're right, it was a base unit.

So the actual unit your grandfather was assigned to was the 1010th Army Air Force Base Unit? If so, this unit was located at Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Yes that's exactly right. I'm trying to find information on that unit and/or him but I can't find anything. Any ideas?

Is 1010th Army Air Force Base Unit typed in Box #6 on page two of your grandfather's Discharge Documents? If yes, that is the unit that your grandfather was assigned to when he was discharged from the US Army. It may NOT be the unit your grandfather was assigned to prior to V-E Day or V-J Day.
If your grandfather was an Enlisted Man, what are ALL the dates typed in Box #36 on page two of your grandfather's Discharge Documents? On page three & page four of your grandfather's Discharge Documents, are any units typed on those pages?
Have you any wartime correspondence of your grandfather's? We do not need the letter, but the envelope. Based upon who wrote the letter, the unit your grandfather was assigned to appears in either the address or the return address.

box 6 says 1010th AAF Base Unit. In box 36 titled "service outside continental usa and return" it says 'none' for everything. I don't see any other units listed as I look at his other documents. I don't know if this has anything to do with anything but he was a little older, around 35 when he first entered. Unfortunately, no war-time letters exist.

So now you know, the Veteran never served outside the USA. This in no way diminishes his service, it is just a simple FACT. The I.D.P.F. would still be an interesting file of FACTS to read.

Hello Mr. Horrell...respectfully, if there are discharge papers...IDPF is not available. Just the opposite on the one you caught me on. :)
