Does anyone have info about a JOHN H. PADGHAM who is listed in the 1900 Lemhi census?

He was 51 (born Dec.11, 1848 or 49? in New York). Parents John and Mary both born in England.

I am searching for my Padgham relatives also in Iowa and possibly Michigan: Thanks Ann

Hi
Thanks for looking that up! I would very much like a copy of the entry. The only problem is paying you for the copy and postage: I live in Germany! Any other ideas? Is an entry maybe somewhere on the web do you think?

Regards, Ann

Hello

About 20 years ago I purchased a ledger at a second hand store in Salmon, Idaho. It is called the "Excelsior Counting-House Diary for 1888" and is labeled in handwriting to belong to the law firm of Padgham and Padgham. It's basically a diary noting the dates of court matters, balances due and payments to/from the firm.

Additionally there are a four newspaper clippings, one of which was pasted at the space for Monday, April 30, 1888 and reads:

"PROBATE ORDER. - State of Michigan, County of Allegan, ss. At a session of the Probate Court for the county of Allegan, holden at the Probate office in the village of Allegan, on Thursday, the 5th day of April, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight.
Present, David Stockdale, Judge of Probate.
In the matter of the estate of Elizabeth L. Earle, deceased. On reading and filing the petition, duly verified, of John H. Padgham, administrator of the estate of said deceased, praying, for reasons therein stated, that he may be authorized and licensed to sell the real estate, of said deceased, in said petition described.
Thereupon it is ordered that Monday, the 30th day of April inst., at 10 o'clock in the forenoon, be assigned for the hearing of said petition, and that the heirs at law of said deceased and all other persons interested in said estate, are required to appear at a session of said court, then to be holden at the Probate office, in the village of Allegan, and show cause, if any there be, why the prayer of the petitioner should not be granted. And it is further ordered that said peritioner give notice to the persons interested in said estate, of the pendency of said petition and the hearing thereof, by causing a copy of this order to be published in the Allegan Journal and Tribune, a newspaper printed and circulated in said county of Allegan, for three consecutive weeks previous to said day of hearing.
DAVID STOCKDALE, Judge of Probate.
(a true copy.)"
[a6-27]

The other clippings name "John H. Padgham" and "Padgham and Padgham" of Allegan county, Michigan.

One entry from Friday May 4, 1888 reads: "Note Chas. Foster Estate to Thos. Padgham - due the 6th"

Another entry in the Memoranda section reads: "Adaline E. Buck wants loan $2000. 3 years 7%"

The entries go up to the end of 1888. I hope this helps you some.

Hi
Thanks for posting the message--it is from my PADGHAMS. May I ask if you are a relative or just a collector?

Ann

I have a letter from him with a news clipping dated Mar 3, 1900. The letterhead indicages he was an "Attorney and Counselor at Law" in Salmon City, Idaho.
