Is there anyone who has access to a Manhattan, NY city directory for about 1894/1902 and can do a lookup for me?
Salvatore Buscemi/Buseemi came from Italy 1893/1894. He lived in New York only a few years before moving to Boston. He is usually listed as a baker/confectioner. Any information on him and where he was living in New York would be much appreciated.

Thanks Judy

Hello. This is what I found in those years.

1894:
"Buscemi Ghioldi E., eating, h. 3 State"

1895 to 1898: none

1899, page 185:
"Buscemi Salvadore, fruit, 268 Washn."

1900, page 179:
"Buscemi Ernest, fruit, 260 & 264 Washn., h. 47 Clinton"
"Buscemi Salvatore, fruit, 260 & 264 Washn., h. 47 Clinton"
"Buscemi S & Son, fruit, 260 & 264 Washn.

1901:
"Buscemi Rosario, barber, 359 Bowery"

1902: none

In the directories that a Salvatore Buscemi was found:
1899 General info, page 74: "Trow's Street and Avenue Directory of the Boroughs of Manhattan and the Bronx, Corrected May 1, 1899", copyrighted 1899.

1900 General info, page 17: "Trow's General Directory of the Boroughs of Manhattan & Bronx, City of New York, for the year 1899 ending July 1, 1900"

I don't check this board out very often, any more specific surname in Manhattan directory questions would probably be better asked on the "New York County" board.
Best regards.

Thank you so much! I am sure this is the correct Salvatore Buscemi. His oldest son was Earnest. For some reason in the 1900 ceneus he is listed (in Manhattan)as "Oakealarn" Buscemi. I was almost sure it was really Salvatore since most ifo including wife matched. I think the records you sent confirm census record errors. Also very interesting to know he had a business of his own. Thanks also for the hint about the New York list. Judy
