Re: Juhel from Dublin posted 2002.

Just googled family surname and came across your thread in the archives.

Tried to respond to your email address but bounced back (but not surprised as thread nearly 2 years old)

My great grand father Camille Joseph Juhel lived there and Gerard Paul Juhel was one of his sons and my grandfather Camille Desmond Juhel.

email me back for more info

Hi
I am Bianca's Mum. I am married to Paul Augustine Juhel whose father was Gerard Paul Juhel. His grandfather was Camille Joseph Juhel.
Grandpa went to Ireland in 1909 & then went back to France to fight in the 1st World War & was discharged with honours in 1918.
Paul was born in Cambra Road Dublin and they lived there until they moved to the UK in 1952. Would love to find out anything you know about the family!
We met Grandpa in Dublin in 1969 when we got engaged but that was the last time we had any connection with them.
Dad had a brother Robert who was a priest in Port of Spain.
Funny you should mention Australia, because Paul's sister Roberta married an Australian and both Mum & Dad went out there to live in the late 80s and both died there.
We found the attached link of Mum & Dad's Headstone on line.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Best Regards
Babs Juhel

Hi
No relation, but have you seen Camille & Ellen Juhel on the 1911 irish census?

And this must be their marriage (same details for Camille, so a match):

Ireland, Civil Registration Marriages Index, 1845-1958
Name: Ellen Mary Cullen
Date of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec 1909
Registration district: Dublin North
Volume: 2
Page: 467
FHL Film Number: 101261

No doubt Ellen Mary + her family are on the 1901 census, but you'd need to get her marriage cert to know who her father (at least) was.

And you might find her baptism + other family info on irishgenealogy.ie.

This might be the birth of their child:

Ireland, Civil Registration Births Index, 1864-1958
Name: Francis Juhel
Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1910
Registration district: Dublin North
Birth Country: Ireland
Volume: 2
Page: 403
FHL Film Number: 101073

and his death:

Ireland, Civil Registration Deaths Index, 1864-1958 Ireland, Civil Registration Deaths Index, 1864-1958
Name: Francis Juhel
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1910
Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1910
Death Age: 0
Registration district: Dublin North
Death Country: Ireland
Volume: 2
Page: 312
FHL Film Number: 0101604

Happy hunting!
Colette
