Hiram, Horace, Robert, and Richard Stevens? Caroline Co., VA were brothers of my ancestor, Lewis B Stevens, b. 1785, Caroline Co., VA; d. St Louis Co., MO. As far as I can tell, the brothers--except for Lewis--remained in Caroline Co., VA.

I am seeking descendants of these brothers, and of their sisters, Lucy (d.s.p.?), Polly (?), Judith? (Hanover Co., VA?)

Their parents were: Capt. Richard Stevens and mary Beverley (Cartter) Stevens, of Caroline and Spotsylvania counties, VA. (Mary d. in Hanover Co, at her daughter's WINSTON place.)

Any other descendants of these folks out there?

Nicholas

John Carter by his first wife, Sarah Kenyon, had 4 children, by his 2nd Elizabeth Armstead 4 more and by Hannah Chew 6 more children... total of 14 children. Hannah Chew's mother was Mary Beverly so Mary Beverly (Carter) Stevens was named for her maternal grandmother.

Capt. Richard Stevens was the son of Joseph Stevens and Anne.

Ana Irena,

Thanks so much for replying and sharing the info on the Stevens children. Some of the info on Capt Richard and Mary B (Carter) Stevens, I had, but almost all of the info on the children--and their children--was new to me.

Lewis Stevens, and his wife, Ann 'Nancy' (Tyler) Stevens, were my great-great-great grandparents. How do you come into this Stevens line?

I would like to connect with others who descend from Lewis or his siblings. Do you descend from one of them?

Nicholas

Hi,

In your Aug 2010 reply about my Stevens query, you noted that Sarah Kenyon was the first wife of John Carter:

"Mary Beverly Carter was the daughter of John Carter and his 3rd wife Hannah Chew who survived him. John Carter's home was in Spotsylvania very near the Caroline border. John Carter by his first wife, Sarah Kenyon, had 4 children, by his 2nd Elizabeth Armstead 4 more and by Hannah Chew 6 more children... total of 14 children. Hannah Chew's mother was Mary Beverly so Mary Beverly (Carter) Stevens was named for her maternal grandmother."

Could you please send me a citation for this information for John Carter and Sarah Kenyon's marriage, as tis was new to me and I cannot find a source to log for it.

Thanks

Nicholas
