My GG grandfather's Sister Married a George F. Burks In Charlotte Co in 1817. A war of 1812 pension application stated that he was born in Prince Edward County. He died 19 June 1872 in Shelby County, TN. After they were married, they lived in PE and Lunenberg Co until 1825; Limestone Co. Al 1825-36; DeSoto Co. I am looking for information on Lelia Harper Skinner who is my great great grandmother. She was born April 14, 1866 and died May 8, 1941. Her father, Mr. Harper, is from Rice, VA. There is very little that I know. Could someone lead me on the right path?

In researching my Burks line documents point to Prince Edward County also. Do you know if Richard Burks and Elizabeth Minns had any other children besides John born in 1730? This Richard and family were in the same area and same time frame as my Burks in Washington/marion County, Kentucky.

I think I may have some info for you. George Burks and Mina Hatchett married 11 April 1787 in Charlotte County, Virginia. They had two sons; George Floyd born aft 1787. and Abner Hatchett Burks Sr born 1788. Abner lived in Lunenberg County. So this may be a lead if you have not already found this info.

Thank you for responding so quickly to my post. I think I may have found another possible child of theirs. I found a revolutionary war pension form for a Charles Langsdon in Jefferson County, Kentucky. He had married Edith/Eda Burks 19 Dec 1788 in Prince Edward per this application. Also it states that Eda/Edith was the daughter of Richard Burks of Prince Edward who had a store Burks's Store . You can find the application on the Jefferson County, Ky genweb site. Please let me know what you think about this info.

I took a look and I believe that you are right, it certainly does fit with the family names and time frame for the location. Thanks so much for passing this along to me.

Appreciate it,
