I also am researching Casserly's in Pa. Specifically, my g-grandmother was Margaret M. Casserly (1871-1957). She married a John Charles Connell in Philadelphia. She immigrated into the Philadelphia area in 1894. Margaret was the daughter of William (1839-1925) and Bridget Fox (1839-1923). William was born at Kells, County Meath. His parents Patrick and Elizabeth Flesh were also born in County Meath.

My father was Francis Cassarly, he was Paul's youngest brother. He died in 1944 of meningitis so I don't know alot of the Cassarly cousins. It sounds like your dad would be my first cousin and you would be my second cousin. I've traced the family back to when they arrived in the U.S. in 1857 aboard the Jeramiah Thompson. They spelled their name Casserly as they do in Ireland I don't know why it was changed. I'll gladly share any info I have. I also know Gordon Cassarly has done some work on the family tree.

My ggggrandfather Peter Casserly b.abt1812 came from Ireland and it appears aboard the Jeremiah Thompason on 9/27/1857, listing a younger Peter 15, Susan, Maria 14(gg), Bernard 13 & John 12. The elder Peter had a wife, Maria Elizabeth Gorman who does not appear on the manifest as neither do an infant dying in 1849 and another brother, either James Bernard or Bernard Thomas. This family located in 1858 in Lincoln, Il where the elder Peter is said to have died. The younger Peter, b. 6/18/1843 can be found in a census residing in Springfield, Il (nearby). This Casserly family apparently also used Casserleigh spelling according to documents I have researched. Thank you for you time...marty

Hi I have a Julia Tormay born in kells in 1888, her godmother is listed as a Margaret Casserly, do you know if there is a connection between the families? 3 Tormay children emigrated to PA between 1888 and 1892, Hugh, john and Annie. they went to live with Cassidys in Hazelton.
