Ted, I'm not sure if my grandfather is your relation or not, but I found out today that his name was William Collinsworth. He married Mary Hensley; she had been married before, but I don't know if he had. I'm trying to get more info. Their children were Belva and Shelba, Blumey; my mother, and Beulah. If you find out anything more, please let me know. Thanks, Patty

My William Jefferson Collinsworth was the son
of William and Rachael Talbot Collinsworth and
he married Catherine Jane Monroe. William Jefferson
was born in Pike County, Alabama on 9 January
1837. I find no children of your William names
in his list.

Sorry but Good Luck hunting.

Nancy Sarah was b. ca. 1810 in Montgomery County, N.C. and James was b. ca. 1808. The children listed in the 1850 Pike County, Alabamacensus were:

1. Ann Emaline, b. 01 Aug 1830
2. Joel
3. Nancy
4. Louisa
5. Rhoda
6. William J.
7. Wealthy
8. Alsy

James and Nancy died ca. 1854 and Joel and Ann Emaline went to Mississippi with their uncle, Benjamin Talbot, and the other remaining children went with William and Rachel Collinsworth to Coffee County, Alabama and later to Walton County, Fla.

It seems as if I have found another cousin. I manage
a list for rootsweb that is the COLLINSWORTH list
the link to join is COLLINSWORTH-L-request@rootsweb.com
then put subscribe in subject line and in the body of the letter.
My family is from Walton Cty too.
I hope to get the list active with research.

If you look in the 1850 Pike County, Alabama census for James Collinsworth and Nancy Sarah Tolbert Collinsworth, you will find William Jefferson as a child of James and Sarah. Sarah is a sister of Rachel Tolbert and I assume James is a brother of William. They are both daughters of Hezekiah Tolbert of Pike County, Alabama.
Something must of happened around 1854, because we find Ann Emaline and Joel Collinsworth going to Mississippi with Benjamin Tolbert and the other children going to Coffee County, Alabama with William and Rachel Collinsworth.
Check this out and let me know your feelings. Would love to share information with you about the descendants of William Jefferson.
