Joyce, I too am looking for ancestors- David Galt who was married to Elizabeth Shearer. Both are listed as being from Poundland, Scotland which is in Ayrshire. I know that David lived to be 100 and operated a farm near Colmonell and died in 1883. Hope this will help. If you have any info please pass it along.

Our Jane Gault's parents were John Gault and Ellen Douglas from Ireland, unfortunately we do not have any brothers or sisters for her, sorry.

My Great Grandmother, Rosetta Gault was born in Scotland. I am sorry I don't know where exactly. She was born June 30, 1869 and her father's name was John. Rosetta married John McSheffery in Belfast on February 15, 1889. If anyone has any info that might help me out, I would greatly appreciate it.

Do you have any connection to a Mary Gault who married a John Gemmell. Their son Alexander was born about 1836 in Irvine

I have a Rachel Galt b 1814 in Irvine to John Galt and Agnes Guthrie Galt. Married John Petrie of Killwinning mid 1830s, had at least one child,( Agnes b. abt 1837 in Kilwinning,) died June 1873. Any cousins?

Hi Rachel, I have very little on the Gault/Galt family. I can go back as far as about 1770 or there about. My 3x great grandmother was Jane Gault born 1808 and her father is John Gault and mother Ellen Douglas both from Belfast, Co. Antrim. I haven't had time to reseach this line yet but it is possible they may be cousins. Jane Gault married John McCully in Kilmarnock in 1832. Their eldest daughter Ellen (b.1834) married David Docherty in Kilmarnock in 1854.
