I'm sorry, I know only what I posted. I can't find out more since the Census of 1911 & 1921 are secret in Canada. They are even wanting to destroy them. The death certificate of William Ransier, my great uncle, in 1923 said the information about him was supplied by William James Scott, his step-son. About the only other thing I know is that William's first wife was Margaret Watson Ransier. They cared for some of the children of my grandfather, Seth Rancier. I was hoping the second family might have data about the first one. I admit it was a long shot.

I too am on a long shot. The William James Scott I am looking for was the son of Maxwell and Harriet Scott - of Irish descent - they divorced and hence my excitement at seeing the term stepson.
The Scotts lived in Toronto in 1917 when William James was 1 year old - is this anywhere near your area?

I remembered that previously I had a response to a like query about William James Scott. That person said his mother's name was Sobina Yateman. To see all she told me you can go to Genforum under Scott - message #7736. Maybe she can actually assist you. As for your question about location, all my references are to Lanark Co. to the north of Toronto, near Ottawa.Good luck on your search.

My grandfather was William James Scott,he lived at Bedford Mills around that date. I know little about his family other than he had Rancier and Yateman in his famiily. He married Idella Green who was Native Canadian. They had 18 children, Samual, May, Nettie, Isabel, Loretta, Audrey, Eileen, Donald, Ronald, Earnie and Larry, I don't know the others as they died either at birth or shortly after. We have been looking for Grandpa's geneology also. I hope this helps.
