I do not know if there is a connection but I am looking for information on Maria Schunemann. She appears to have married in Germany (I do not know her married name), having 7 children. She emigrated to Chicago area in 1890 and remarried Friedrich Krohn, having one more child, Martha. Does this have any connection to you?

Hello, Sue: As of yet, I have no information on a connection between your Krohn & Schunemann's and mine.

Christina Dorthea Maria SCHUNEMANN had a sister named,
Magdalena Maria Elisabeth SCHUNEMANN b. June 14, 1810, Sanitz, Mecklenberg, Germany. This is all I know about her.
I don't know who she was married to. Her sponsors at her baptism were: Magdalena Sophia Stender, verhelichte (married) Hennings. Oberhofer Kruge; Catharina Elisabeth Steffen, vereh. (married) Balzer in Sanitz; Anna Sophia Maria Milhahn, vereh.(married) Grahl in Sanitz.

Her parents were: Joachim Heinrich SCHUNEMANN & Magdalena Maria Elisabeth DOSE.

I don't know the names of my great grandfather, Carl Johann Heinrich KROHN's siblings. He did have a son named Friedrich
Krohn, b. 1868, but his wife was named Emma Vogt.

Please keep in touch if you find a connection.

Best regards,
Muriel

There are family death notices for Wilhelmine Schuenemann Peters in Milwaukee's German language newspapers. There also possible death notice and obituary entries for Wilhelm and Augusta Peters Eichholz in the resource: "Milwaukee's German Newspapers; an index of death notices and related items" (1844-1950).

Hi Gary,
Are you aware if there would be obits in that paper for Germans living in the extended Milwaukee area? I am looking for Marie/Mary Schunemann Meyer. She lived in East Troy, WI and died in 1903. Any info on where to look we be so helpful!

Hi Anonymous poster SEG06,

Any newspaper could have a mention of Marie/Mary Schunemann Meyer if there was a local connection. I've indexed 4 of the German-American papers from 1903, but I haven't indexed family death notices or an obituary for that name (having a specific date would be more helpful).
I'd focus first on East Troy / Walworth Co. research collections. Maybe the local library has a clippings collection; or look for entries found through US Genweb?

Good luck!

Sorry I forgot to include my name lol! My name is Shannon Grabko. This Marie is my 4th Great Grandmother. I have had the hardest time trying to find anything on this Meyer family, but I am starting to make some headway. Her full name was Maria Sophie Wilhelmina Schunemann Meyer. I have found a death record for a "Wilhelmma Meyers" on 11 Jun 1903 in Walworth County. I am going to look into that. Thank you for your input!
