Niilo Hepola (age 20)left from Finland 17.4.1893 to Hancock MI and Kalle H. (24) 1910, Gustafa H. (26) 1911 and Johan H. (38) 1906.

Thank you for the post. Sounds like there is probably some connection. Gustaf Hepola (1868-1948) lived in Hancock and worked in the mine. I believe he immigrated from Kuusamo around 1890. I think his father may have been Emanuel? Unfortunately I don't know any of his brothers names.

This was not so easy, but:
There was HEPONIEMI (farm name) family in Kuusamo (Family name was written sometimes also as Pitkänen).
Father Emanuel, b. 1.3.1833, farmer
Mother Riitta Stina, b. 22.12.1834. d.12.8.1885. They had son Gustaf Emanuel, b. 27.3.1867. There is a note for Gustaf in the book of church 1884-1895. "In the America about 5 years". This is a newest book in Internet.
There are some brothers and sisters.

Matti Matinpoika Heikkila born 3/6/1871 in Pudasjarvi, Finland. Former name was Honkavaara. My family history does not tell why the name was changed.
Siblings: Elsa Greta, Tapani, Johan Henrik, Anna Maria, Amanda, Kaisa, Amanda.

After arrival in US, the name was changed again to Heckler.
