My family originate in Prescot Lancashire England in 1798.
I have a possible link with Canada because Prescot is only 3 miles from Liverpool docks.

I am a first cousin of berryseeker on ancestry.com. My maiden name is Berry. We are trying to find the country of origin of our people; is it possible Berry's from Scotland or Ireland came to England and then immigrated? Please let me know your thoughts. We have other family surnames that do go straight back to Scotland/Ireland. I read where the surname itself pertained to a groundskeeper at a church.

Hi,
all I know from my line of Berry's is that they go back to 1722 in Wigan Lancashire England. I have the full families of my line.
I have seen Berry lines from Scotland and Ireland but have no link to them.
I also have Berry's Galfridus born 1219 Alma born 1372 Henry born 1280 all in England but have no link yet.
All the best.
Paul

WOW You really have your lines back to the source! We are just searching for needles in a haystack as we have been rumored to have native american blood, and one link as close as our great-grandfather is strangely documented, making us wonder if Berry is even the correct surname! There are many Berry lines here in Georgia. It is a common native american surname as well. All I know is, we keep having olive complexioned babies with dark hair and eyes, and it has to come from somewhere! Thank you! Good luck with your line as well.

Hi,
all the best luck in your search.
It has taken me 30 years to trace my tree back to 1722.
Most of the work happened in the last 5 years with online searches etc.
I have ancestors who emigrated to America in the late 1800s.
After Wigan my ancestors moved to Prescot in Lancashire before moving in 1827 to Stoke-on-Trent Staffordshire where I live.
Prescot is only 15 miles from Liverpool where millions of people emigrated from.
