Judy: My name is Robert Cieslak. I'm doing research on my father's family and I wondered if you had any information on the Szarmach family? My g-g-grandfather, Jozef Szarmach, immigrated to the United States in the 1870's, and probably first settled in Radom. The family americanized their name to Sherman. His children all eventually settled in Chicago. His daughter Anna was my g-grandmother and married my g-grandfather, Jozef Cieslak. Jozef Szarmach (Sherman) and his second wife were buried at the church cemetery in Radom. If you have information on them, please email me at RJCIES@cs.com. Thanks and good luck! Bob Cieslak

My greatgrandfather, Thomas Bauza, married a Stella Barczewska. They were both from the Radom, Posen areas. Prior to this marriage, he was married to Rosalia Haas, my greatgrandmother. Do you have any connections with these families?

Hi Lois, my husband is connected by marriage to a BARCISZEWSKI family in the area -- his great-grandmother's sister Teresa ANIELAK married a Felix BARCISZEWSKI, son of Franciszek/Frank B. and Anna BENDERSKA. Felix was the youngest of 8 children: George, Wicenty/Vincent, Stanislaus/Steven, Alexander, Cecilia, Michael and Joseph being the other 7 children. Any connection to your Stella? Would be interesting to find out. I think that most of the Polish families in the Radom area are connected somehow, through marriages over the course of the 120+ years they have lived in the area. If I can give you any more info please e-mail me directly at judyellis@earthlink.net or reply to this post.

Hi Bob, sorry it's taken me 2 months to respond to your post. I guess it's been a while since I've visited this message board, and I didn't get the usual e-mail notification of a reply to my post.
I don't have that name SZARMACH in any of my files, but I do have the name of a wonderful lady who is a trustee of St. Michael's church there in Radom. Her name is Dorothy Szatkowski -- her family is from the area and she lives nearby. You can write to St. Michael's -- I did and she wrote back to help me with researching my ANIELAK family. They have an index card file of the known burials in the cemetery, maybe she can get you more info on your ancestors. It's worth a shot! If you have any info on the names ANIELAK, BARCISZEWSKI, or DREAS I would love to compare notes. I hope to hear from you again Judy

Hey...I may as well get in on this string...I have a Czerniejewski married into my Kujawa line...Albert, son of Thomas Czerniejewski and Mary Rose Dreas. I see Patty G has already offered her help. Hi Patty! Wendy Surnames: Kujawa, Rynski, Czerniejewski, Dreas, Krzyzanowski, Chwascinski, Czajkowski. I am convinced that once done, all the names mentioned will be related to each other!

Hi Wendy, thank you for responding to my message post. Is your Thomas Czerniejewski the son of John C. and Anna Majewska? I also have Anielaks who married into the Dreas line, and Kujawa's too. Like you I believe that eventually all these will connect. My Kujawa's are from the Toledo area but I know that there was a lot of going back and forth from Toledo, St. Louis and the Ashley/Radom area. Would love to hear more from you about your Thomas C. Please reply or e-mail directly at judyellis@earthlink.net
