My grandmother shows on the census in 1920 at the age 11 as clara Zeilman in the house of the good sheperd. She had 15 children and they have no information on her at all, no birth certificate or anything. We have absolutely no information on her or where she came from. Before my grandmother passed away she said that she was adopted and her name was actually Gertrude Doyle. Does anyone have any information regarding the convent/asylum of the good sheperd in St. Louis and how I can get information regarding her from them.

Who did she marry ? that is, what's her married name + when did she die/burial place ?

She was most likely an orphan or deliquent if she was in the care of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd. My great aunt was a cloistered nun there from before 1930 until 1975.

Their Daad dropped them there when my Mom was only 5. My Mother was the youngest. Her name is Louise Juenger. She graduated from there @ the age of 17; then went on to become a Secretary and a singer in downtown St. Louis. I know very little about my Mother; all was kept very secret. Can anyone help me? I also am trying to find out info about my Mom, so I can understand how you want to find information about your Grand Mother. My Mom was there also; along with 2 other sisters and my Mother had 2 brothers(no boys were there; they were housed somewhere else so I need to find out where they went to). My Mother's Father dropped the 3 girls there when my Mother was around 5-6 years old (my Mother was the youngest). I did some checking on the Net last night and this is what I found out. They moved years ago from Gravois Avenue. They are now located @ 7654 Natural Bridge Rd., St. Louis, MO (now called Sister's of the Good Shepherd). The phone number is (314) 381-3400. I called today and I spoke with sister Carolyn and Joel (he is in charge of the Archives). I emailed the information I had about my Mother to both of them. It will probably be some days before I hear back, but I have to add, I was very happy to know they had records going back many years.
