Gina,

I am descended from Chesley Holland, b. S.C. 1805-1810,appears in Gainesville, Hall, Ga. as head of household in 1830 census. Married Martha Lindsey 20Apr1834 in Gainesville, Ga. Cobb Co., Ga in 1840 census. In censuses of 1850, 1860, 1870, and 1880 located in Cartersville, Cass/Bartow, Ga. Children: Nancy, James, Ambrose, Sarah, Moses W., Daniel W., Henry A., and John. I have always tried to prove a connection to Chesley D. Holland, son of Rev. Moses Holland, but have been unable to do so absolutely. All censuses list his birthplace as "S.C." I know quite a bit about the Reverends descendants. I sure would appreciate any help you could give me.

William,

I do have a John Holland who was born to Chesley Holland and Martha Lindsey. He appeared as their son in Chesley's family Bible and in census records of Cartersville, Hall Co., GA. He would have served in the Civil War(Capt.?), as did his brothers. Chesley was born in SC about 1810. As you know, I belive him to be descended from Rev Moses Holland of Anderson Co., but I have no proof, other than the Rev. had a son named Chesley D. Holland (possible father of my Chesley) and my Chesley namd one of his sons Moses. Also, there were other Hollands living in Hall Co. at the time from Anderson Co., SC.

This is a long shot. My ancestor George Washington Swilling is from Red House Plantation, Anderson, SC Family tradition stated he was from "Holland". Could they have meant he was related to a family named Holland? George was married to Martha Lynch, several children were born at Red House.

Do you have any history on Red House plantation?

Thank you for any information you may care to share, Dee
