I am looking for family ancestors who lived in Guyana. Unfortuanately, I know nothing about where they lived or much else about them except that they are most likely of Afro-Guyana heritage.

What names are you researching? Where did your family move to?

I understand several of my direct ancestors, and their siblings were at some period of their lives resident in Barbados. Those ancestors of mine migrated to British Guiana at various periods, most likely between 1835 and 1893. While the list below shows the surnames of my kinship – I am very interested in the surnames which I noticed are to be found in Barbados - primarily; Sancho, Young, Campbell, Lovell, Dowridge, Adams, Osborne and Trotman -with the hope of connecting with relatives of the Island nation.
In fact, Sancho, Osborne and Young are my main focus – wherever Sancho, Osborne and Young of the African Diaspora, are found I am very interested in the possibilities of kinfolks.

hey its fiona again, yea my mother told me that some of our family is from Barbados also. My mother is about 62 now and she only have one brother well at least thats what the people that grow up with tell her.

Hi I'm trying to Research my roots too, My father was Rodrigues,(b 1937) his mothers surname was Greene, she was born on a sugar plantation Ruimsvelt?? I think. Her Father was J A Greene? Any names sound familiar in your searches? The Rodrigues link is the paternal side, all of Portugese descent so I'm told From Madiera. Kind Regards
