The first Bushee in the state of Michigan had a trading post at the confluence of the Rabbit and Kallamazoo rivers in Allegon county , MI. From that time on all Indians in the western half of the state would greet all white people with the word "Boo-Shoo", because they could not pronounce Bushee. Yes, it is a French name. This trader in this area had at least 3 Indian wives. Today, the Fennville, MI area is full of Bushee`s. Best wishes, emerson@chartermi.net

Kenneth -- You didn't give a name to this Bushee. Please supply his name to me. I have collected about 1400 Bushee's and would be interested in this one too.
My mother'a maiden name was Bushee.

Hi Marion, I can`t remember his first name. (the one that settled on the Rabbit river confluence with the Kallamazoo river, now called New Richmond, MI. about 3 miles north of Fenneville, MI. It once had the name of Richmond, and 1 or 2 other names. My brother-in-law who moved from that area to Phoenix, AZ in 1960 had the name of Archie Bushee II. He is deceased. I remember reading about this in a big thick history book out of the Chicago library called "The History of Western Michigan". I can`t remember any more about that. I will look this up. Send your e-mail. Thanks, Ken. emerson@chartermi.net

hello,
My mother's maiden is Bushee also. Michael Bushee was born in St.Joseph, Ontario June 1853. He married Josephine LaPorte Sept.4, 1875 in Huron county ontario or Huron county Michigan. In 1881 they migrated to Pioneer Pointe, near present day E.Grand Forks, Minnesota. Their 3rd son, Edward, was born in 1886. He married Mathilda Faubert and had 5 sons, and one of those sons is my grandfather. I have a greatuncle that married a Genereau from Meade township in Huron county Michigan. Her mother's maiden name was Lepicier. If you have any info on the Bushee's that migrated to Minnesota, please pass it on down. I was checking into possible Native American links also.
Thanks Kevin

We have a Josephine LaPorte on our tree with a daughter, Emily LaPorte, born January 4, 1870 in Quebec, Canada. Could this be the Josephine you are looking for? She was married to Joseph LaPorte but may have remarried. Their daughter, Emily, married Thomas Morrisette on November 26 1889. Emily and homas are my great grandparents.
