Has any one out there while searching come across the name in any documents spelled DARROLL. My GGrandmother's name was Ann Darroll,b.1831. She married James Wilkes,b.1829, both were from England. They lived in Birmingham and raised 14 Children, the youngest being my Grandfather Henry Darroll Wilkes. They owned a Swan restaurant and Inn. Henry married Catherine Airy Cook Douglas of Scotland. They migrated to Montreal, Canada with a daughter and their son (my father) Walter Charles Douglas Wilks, in 1911 then to Cinti. Ohio in 1923. My oldest sister is named Darroll after them. I can not seem to find any thing with the name spelled this way. Any help would be appreciated. E-mail: Nakoma4058@aol.com

One of the interesting things you come across in researching ancestry is how the spelling varies, not only from generation to generation but from source to source. I'm a descendent of Darrells, but in the 1881 census they seem to have been recorded as Darrals or Darralls. Going back another generation or two I've come across a Solomon Darroll, who married a Sophia Davies on 15 Dec 1834 in Wrockwardine, Shropshire. I suspect he may be my GGG-grandfather but I can't quite match him to being the father of my (definite) GG-Grandfather, who was named Solomon Darral. But at least here's a result for you!

I'm trying to trace my GreatGrandmother's Aboriginal links...She was Artimesia , Margaret, Darrell...born 1881, in Hobart, Tasmania...Her parents were Mary, Margaret, Williams , who was born in Launceston, Tasmania, and Artimesia's Father was Edward, Thomas Darrell, (not sure where he was born, but he and Mary married in Hobart in 1880...)...He was listed on the marriage certificate as being a seaman, aged 22yrs...Artimesia's mother, was European, so, either Edward was Aboriginal, or else, Artimesia was adopted or was she one of the' Stolen Generation'..raised by foster parents ?...or were Edward and Mary her natural parents...If so...Who were Edward's parents ?...I'm trying to trace her Aboriginal links...Can anyone help ?...Sylvia

I'm trying to trace my Great Grandfathers links he was born c. 1858 in America and Married Mary Margaret Williams in Hobart. Sylvia it would seem we have a family connection. Your great grandmother Artimesa and my grandfather Stanley were brother and sister. I've not had any luck finding out where in America great grandfather was born or who his family were.

My maiden name was Darroll, my father was 73 when I was born, my mother Penelope Hartford being 39 years his junior.
His father was also Jacob but his grandfather was Henry all came from around the Wolverhampton area of England and from Madely Shropshire. My father's mother was Martha Ann Griffiths. They also had Sarah Jane and Martha Ann their daughter's. Be interesting if it were part of your family.

Hi, I have ancstors names Darrall from Birmingham. I thnik we must be related due to the fact that nearly all the Darrall's from Birmingham are decended from Joseph & Catherine Darrall who came from Dawley Magna, Shropshire.
