Do you know if Cora's middle initial was "E" and if she married Alanson Knowlton around 1878 in Allegan County, Michigan?

Alanson Knowlton was one of the son's of James P. Knowlton and Mary F. (Hart) Knowlton.
Mary F. Hart was the sister of my great-grandfather John P. Hart.

Bill Hart told me of your posting of the
children of James Faunce and Ruth Scott.
The name Chester is of great interest to me.
I am descended from Chester Scott (1786-1866).
Chester had 14 children and I have found only
9. Chester was born in Westmoreland, Cheshire
County, NH and moved to Vermont and then to
Friendship, Allegany County, NY in 1814.
The Scotts were a prolific lot and relatives
lived in Cattaraugus as well as Allegany
County. Have you any info on your Ruth Scott?

Would one of the children of your Chester Scott be Joseph Scott who married Polly/Mary Faunce? They had 4 children and moved to Huntsburg, OH where they are buried.

Hi Scott,
I don't know if Chester had a son Joseph. To date I have discovered only 9 of his 14 children. What information do you have on Joseph which might indicate a connection? I have no Josephs at all in my Scott tree at present (Descendants of Waitstill Scott). Always looking for a new descendant.
What year was Joseph born and where?

I don't have anything on Joseph's parents. Below is all I have in my records, unfortunately. I'm going to contact someone who may know a bit more, as she is a descendant of this Joseph.

Joseph Scott, born Abt. 1806 in New York; died June 23, 1855 in Huntsburg, Geauga County, OH. He married (1) Polly Faunce. She was born March 25, 1807 in Watertown, MA, and died June 08, 1871 in Huntsburg Township, Geauga County, OH. She was the daughter of Thomas Allen Faunce and Elizabeth Rice.

Sharon, email me at and I'll give you the email address of someone who would like to correspond with you about the Scott family. She has a good deal of family history that might be of help to you.

Dear Scott and Sharon,

I'm a descendant of Joseph and Polly (Faunce) Scott, of Huntsburg, Geauga County, OH, and I'd like to get in on this discussion. Please send me more information about the Scott Researcher. I just subscribed to census files at and I hope that will help me find new clues (e.g., where was Joseph Scott from? who was Elizabeth Rice's family, and where was she from?)

I think the names of Joseph Scott's sons, Adolphus and Christopher Columbus, may come from his ancestral line and may provide clues to Joseph's identity. Also the fact that he was living on the farm of a Giles Scott, with a J. W. Scott nearby, in Rome, Ashtabula County, OH in the 1820's before he moved to his farm in Geauga County.

Scott, I now have a new e-mail address, in case you have tried to reach me previously. We've communicated extensively in the past about our Faunce ancestors. Also, I recently moved to a different state.
