My father, Armand Ruscitti, and his brother Nello, lived at Angel Guardian Orphanage from 1925 to about 1935. If anyone has any information, etc. I would love to hear from them.

Hi Steven

I am an Angel Guardian Alumni, we do have a Message Board for A.G.O. Formers. You can post a message for anyone who may remember your Dad. There are a few people on Board from that era.

Also, we have had a few Reunions over the last few years for Formers and/or family's of Formers. Although there may not be that many people posting on the Message Board, a lot do attend the Reunions from different era's. We have a list of people who have attended these Reunions.

Our Message Board Site is: www.members.boardhost.com/AGO

Another Alumni's site which belongs to Donna Hunt is called the Fallen Angel Pages:
http://www.fallenangelpages.com/home.html Both of these sites link to each other and also have links to other Formers Websites.

You can also get information by contacting the Archdiocese of Chicago @ http://www.archdiocese-chgo.org/index.shtm

Archive contact is Julie at (312) 831-0711 x 724 or email: jtreanor@archchicago.org

Let them know that you want any and all information, ie. Student Records, Sacramental Records, etc. You will need to know the exact spelling of their names, years attended, Name of School, Order of Nuns, which is Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ (PHJC) etc.

Hope this helps you, if I can be of any help, you can contact me.

Syl

Is you dad or uncle still alive? Is your father's name Armand or Armando?

In reply, yes his name was Armando (or Armand as pronounced here) ... do you know something about his stay? Were you or someone you know at AGO? I retrieved records from the Archdiocese but in addition to school records, there wasn't a whole lot. I'm just interested in learning anything I can about that time in his life. Unfortuntely, he died young, almost 30 years ago, so I never got to ask the questions.

Hi Lee

Yes, I attended A.G.O. in the 60's. They have since closed their doors in about 1974.

For anyone who contacts the Archdioicese of Chicago, you have to let them know that you want any & all the records that they have on file for this person.

If you only request their "Student Records", that's all that you will get. People assume that by requesting this that they will get everything.... NOT TRUE.

You have to be specific!!! You see, different departments keep certain records, such as School Records, Medical Records, Sacrament Records, Case Worker Records, Tests, etc. Their all kept in different Archive Sections.

I had over 100 pages in my file, which included: copies of Report Cards, Scholastic Tests, Sign Out Sheets, Allowance Records, etc.

I will email you back with other info.

very interesting that your last name is LOWERY. i happen to be searching for my LOWERY relatives. my grandmother, loraine "alice" lowery was in an orphanage with her 6 or 7 brothers and sisters. she was the youngest and was born in 1931. she was put there after her mother left at about the age of 2. we dont know why the mother left... my grandmother had a horrible childhood and so never really talked about it or kept in contact with her bros & siss. i know of one that i have met, and he since died, leonard lowery. he was a few years older than my grandmother. i dont know which orphanage, and i am assuming it was in chicago... probably around 1933-1943...

Hi,
My aunt is adopted and on her birth certif. it names Armond Ruscitti as her father and Barbara Jean Ruscitti as her mother. I believe it was in the early 50's. She would love info, if anyone has it. I believe it was a black market adoption, and money changed hands. She was adopted out of Chicago.

Stacey,

My father is the Armand Ruscitti mentioned in your query. Is there any way we can communicate directly through e-mail rather than go through this message board?

I am sorry that I never responded ... I just stopped checking the message board. But Lowery is my married name and my husband's family isn't from Chicago but from Maine and have no relatives in this area so I don't think there's any connection. Again, sorry I am just responding.
