Jodi,

Here is what I have. I think Augustus was born in Union County, TN. I visited his gravesite at the Blue Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetary in Sharps Chapel just north of Morris Lake last summer.

My father: Virgil Merlan Brantley, b. 11/17/1917 in Cropsy, IL now living in Xenia, Ohio (he was just inducted into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame)

Son of: Lee Pryor Brantley, b. 1887 in Knoxville, TN (very little known
about him)

Son of: William Brantley, b. 5/15/1863 in Union Co. TN

Son of: Augustus Brantley, b. 8/29/1842 in Union Co. TN

Son of: Robert Brantley, b. about 1800 in Halifax Co. NC

Son of: Robert Brantley, b. 1776 in Halifax Co. NC

Son of: Robert Brantley, b. about 1748 in Halifax Co. NC

Son of: Edward Brantley, b. about 1720 in Southampton Co. VA

Son of: James Brantley, b. about 1700 in Southampton Co. VA

Son of: Edward Brantley, b. about 1689 in Isle of Wight Co. VA

Son of: Phillip Brantley, b. about 1655 in Isle of Wight Co. VA

Son of Edward Brantley, b. about 1618 in England. He was a headright (indentured servant) for John Seward who got a patent for 200 acres in Isle of Wight in 1638. In 1669 Edward secured his own patent for 675 acres in Isle of Wight County.

Argostos is Augustus. It seems it was a transcribing error in listing his name. Elizabeth Charity Williamson was his wife. I have limited info if you are interested.

Augustus and Charity were my ggg grandparents.

This is one of my family lines. You are looking for Augustus Brantley, and he was married to Charity Williamson. This is a great family. They arrived in America from England, and were in Isle of Wright, Virginia, and there were 4 brothers. One brother went to N.C. and the others went to Georgia. The one in N.C. went to Tennessee , and this is my line. Good Luck! Brenda (Pierce) Adamson
