I am looking for info on Leonora Carey in Massachusetts. Lenora was born in LaGrange, Maine about 1864 and died in 1942. She was married to Elton Chamberlin and lived in Everett and Malden, Mass. She may have also been married to a Weymouth...also from Maine I believe.
If you have any info on Lenora please contact me at jxregan@aol.com.

I am researching my Carey line from Richmond, MA and Pittsfield, MA. Arrived RI 1836, via the city of Providence. Found a book once of passenger lists, but Thomas Carey was not listed nor a ship at that time. I think records were not complete.

My father, Joseph William Carey, was born in Fal River, MA> in 1888. He married Mary Elizabeth Crossling there in 1911. They moved to Newport,RI.about 1918. Joseph died in May, 1974, Mary died Febuary, 1958. I am the sole suvivor of that branch. I have traced my Mother's family back to Oldham,England (1840). Never could get any info about Joseph Willam Carey (my grandfather) b:abt 1865 and married Johanna Malvey In Fall River about 1885) Vanished abt 1900, reappeared in Newport in 1932, then agian vanished. Hi. The Carey's in my family moved from Berkshire County to Holyoke, MA around 1880.
My gt-gt grandfather, Edward Carey (1827 - 1887) was born in County Galway, Ireland, according to his death record. He immigrated sometime before 1854, as he married Mary O'Brien (1835-1897, b. County Tipperary, Ireland) in Chicopee, MA on 13 Nov 1854, but their residence was listed as Russell, MA, according to their marriage record. Both Edward & Mary moved to Northampton, MA, about 1882, and are buried in St. Mary's Cemetery in Northampton.
Edward & Mary O'Brien Carey had six children:
1) Martin Edward Carey (1856– 1904) was born in Rusell, MA and died in Chicopee, MA. Married Margaret M Flemming.
2) Catharine Carey Strain (1858 – 1885) was born in Otis, MA and died in Holyoke, MA.
3) Mary Carey Pero (1859 – 1907) was born in Lenox, MA and died in Ontario, Canada.
4) Caroline "Carrie" Carey (my great grandmother) was born in 1862, in Lenox, MA and died in Holyoke, MA in 1938. She married David J. Hegarty (b. Ireland) in Holyoke in 1883. David died in 1896, and Carrie married John McGrath in 1907, in Holyoke.
5) Margaret "Maggie" Carey (1864 – )
6) Johanna Carey (1869 – )

I have additional info on all of the above. Hope this is helpful in your search for Holyoke Carey's.
