William WATSON, born in 1742 in Louisa County, Va., died 9-2-1846 in Posey County, Ind. He was living with his son, John WATSON in Posey Co. in 1840 at the age of 97. I am trying to prove a connection to my family line. My gggrandfather, Benjamin WATSON married in Hopkins Co., Ky. in 1830. I have been told that William WATSON of Posey Co. was his father. Does anyone know of this man, perhaps have a copy of his will, etc.? Would someone volunteer to search the county records for his will? I would be extremely grateful for your help. Thank you in advance.

"Letter from The Honorable John WHITE"

{Kentucky} House of Representatives January 11th, 1841

The undersigned states he is personally acquainted with - - - -

He states he also knew William WATSON but not intimately. When he knew him he resided on Tates Creek, Madison County, Ky., some 8 or 10 years ago. He migrated west about that time. The undersigned has not seen him since as he recollects. He knew his sons John & WILLIAM H. WATSON the first slightly having seen him but seldom.

WILLIAM H., the undersigned knew intimately. He resided in the town of Richmond several years having the SADDLER TRADE."

"Signed: JOHN WHITE"

COMMENT: It would have been quite a "commute" for the William A. {H?} WATSON of Davidson Co., TN to the town of Richmond, Madison Co., KY., in order to open that Saddler Shop by 8 o'clock in the morning as William H. WATSON!

Hopefully, your Work In Progress is Progressing smoothly.

Respectfully, Lois Jennings Johnson

Hi, my name is Juanita Marie Watson. My father was born in Evansville, Ind., md. in Evansville, IN and died in Cincinnati, OH. b. Clifford Watson 7/29/1915, d. 5/17/1982. He always signed his name as Augustus Clifford Watson. His death record is in August Watson. Gets confusing doesn't it.

Well, I read your post on rootsweb.com and was hoping that you might be able to help me. My father's father's name was Augustus D. Watson and my mother says that she thinks that he was supposed to be from Sebree,Ky (Webster Co.). On my father's birth record, his father is listed as August Watson, but the marriage record for his father is Augustus D. Watson. md. 1/15/1915 to (Sarah) Buala Pearl Jones, (later remarried to Joseph Hartlage).

Augustus also was known by "Gus" and was known to be a notary public. "Gus" was also to have been known as a "newspaper man." Augustus D. Watson died in the last week of July, 1947 in Indianapolis, Indiana, prior to my mother and father's wedding on 8/1/1947.

I cannot find any records showing his birth in Sebree, KY or his death in Indianapolis. I am trying to find more info on him and also on his parents.

Since you have so much info on Posey Cty, IN and on Webster Co., KY, could you compare and see if you have an Augustus D. Watson .

Thank you.

This particular William Watson - Does anyone know specifically who his father was? I am comparing my Revolutionary War Pension information for my John Watson 2nd, who was also born in Louisa Co, VA and served from Pittsylvania Co, VA. In his records he states his brother William of Indiana can testify to his service. John went to Anderson Co, Kentucky. Anyone willing to share info with me?
