Surnames: Johansson Ahonen
Hello i´m trying to find some information about my grandfathers father on my fathers side.

His name was Herman Johansson Ahonen and from deathrecords i have found that he was born in 1870 on the 18th of June in Urais församling, Borgå stift, Koupio. He probably came to Sweden via Haparanda, but i don´t know when. There is a daughter, Anna, born in September 1902, no father recorded. He married Anna-Lisa Johansdotter Holma from Jukkasjärvi in 1903 on the 10th of may.

Herman died of drowning in 1908 when my grandfather, Ilmar, was just over a year old, there is also a daughter, Ester, born in 1904.

I´ll be greateful for any help i can get.

Peter

I don't know if this helps at all but what strikes me as odd is the birth place of Herman.
Providing that I read this correctly, there are actually three birth places mentioned here. "Urais församling" would be the parish of Uurainen, "Borgå stift" would be the bishopric of Porvoo and then there is Kuopio. I tried to find out if the town of Uurainen was once part of bishopric of Porvoo but I couldn't and it would sound strange anyway. Uurainen is nowhere near Porvoo and the bishopric of Porvoo has mainly Swedish speaking towns. Then there is this Kuopio which is a bishopric of its own.

So, I think Herman might have been born in one of these and then maybe lived in the other two?

If you're looking for the parents of Herman Johansson born 18 JUN 1870 in Uurainen, they are Johan Eliasson b. 9 AUG 1838 and Hedda Mattsdotter b. 27 JUN 1844.

Herman's birth record:

And the parents in the communion book 1844-1869:

Unfortunately newer records haven't been microfilmed or digitized, so any information from 1870 and later would have to come from the parish office for a fee:
