I am trying to track down the details of the parents of a John McCarthy born in Ballarat abt 1868. As per the transcription of his death attached his fathers name was supposedly also john Mccarthy. I have only been able to find a John McCarthy born in East ballarat in 1862 to parents Matthew & Johanna Mccarthy. Any help much appreciated.

As he is the one who would have provided the information on his marriage certificate it would be far more accurate than whoever provide information on his death certificate.

Death certificate has discrepency - that he was 18 when he married first time and that his death age was was 58 this would mean he was born in abt 1868 - and yet his first marriage was in 1882 and if he was 18 would make his birth year abt 1864.

My suggestion would be to get marriage certificate.

Tania unfortunately the Florence Maria Patty marriage certificate does not have his parents listed on it so the death certificate is the only clue we have.

Would be grateful for any other suggestions or avenues you think I can try.
