Baird-Randolph family, Georgia

My great-grandmother, Catherine Elizabeth Alice Baird (called Alice), was probably born in late 1850's or early 1860's.
The story goes that Alice's parents were missionaries who went to Brazil. Not sure
if Alice was born there or in the U.S. She came
back to the States (I assume Georgia), when she was a teenager.
She married Tandy Key Randolph in the Braselton, GA area and died in 1940.
They are both buried at Zion Baptist Church, Braselton, GA.
I'm searching for any info. on her parents or any siblings she may have had.
Anyone with Baird connections in Georgia, especially the Jackson County, Braselton or Winder, GA areas?
Any help with this Baird family will be appreciated.
Barbara

I also am looking for Bairds. My mother in law is Sammie Elizabeth, daughter of Willie Mae Baird and Whitfield Lathrop, of Atlanta.
Willie Mae died in 1939 leaving her minor daughters to fend for themselves. The family was very poor. Do you know of any connections to these Bairds?

Hi Julia! My grandmother, Mary, was Sammie's sister. I've got a great deal of information on the Bairds, and a little bit on the Lathrops. I've been stuck on Whitfield Lathrop's parents for about 3 years now. I had done a great deal of research on the Bairds along with a number of other cousins a couple of years ago. I also have a number of photos. Some of Whitfield and Willie Mae. I would love to hear from you and compare notes!! Please contact me. My email address is: dredmond@n2.net

I'm looking for Robert Amos Baird b. cir 1880 d. 1980. I found thos at http://genforum.genealogy.com/cgi-bin/pageload.cgi?brazil::b... It looks like what you are looking for.

"Alice's father was James Robinson Baird. He was born Sept. 8, 1815 in Ohio. He died between Aug. 25, 1880 and May 25, 1900. His wife was Eliza Caroline
Price. B-10/25/1820 D-May 28, 1900 Both are buried in Jackson Co, Braselton, GA. Their children included Reynold and Reginald Price Baird, as well as Alice.
James Robinson Baird was the first graduate of Davidson College in 1840. He became a preacher and a teacher. He led many churches. From 1868 to 1878 he
served as a missionary in Brazil to ex-patriot Confederate soldiers and their families in Americana, after the Civil War. In 1879, after 10 years, he had to return to
Georgia because of illness. He moved to Braselton into a house on Davis Street and stayed there until he died. He was not well, but the people in Hoschton errected
a church as a non-denominational church. Everybody used it. finally it dissolved into a Presbyterian body and remained that way until it burned. Rev. Baird was a
teacher and county school superintendent for Jackson County from 1878-1880. The school was known as Randolph Academy and was located further down the
road from his house. He died in Braselton, Ga. The house he lived in was built for him and his family by the other brothers and is still lived in."

This is a very old post, but I thought I would reply anyway. I've been looking at the Baird/Beard family that had ties to Fairfield Co. SC, but moved to Jackson Co, GA.

If I'm not mistaken her father was James Robinson Baird. There are posts about him at genforum on the Brazil Genealogy Forum.

I found the following census data from 1880. Both Ancestry and FamilySearch had it transcribed as Baisa but names and dates match Baird family of interest.

1880 - Dist 248, Jackson Co., GA
James Baird, 64, Minister of the Gospel, b. SC SC SC
Caroline, 50, wife, b. NC NC NC
Alice, 18, daughter, b. SC SC NC
Evolina, 50, sister, b. SC SC SC

I think James's brother was John A. Baird. He was found near James with his daughter's family.
John Baird, 68, b. SC.
Joseph Davis, 26, b. GA
Mary J., 30, MS
several children

John's son, James, 37, is also there with his family.

I think there was another brother, Samuel, whose two sons, William and James, were also in the same area.

I traced John A. and Evalina back to the 1850 census. John was in Chickasaw, MS and Evalina was in Chester Co., SC with the woman I believe was their mother, Nancy. Samuel was in the same household with his wife. There is evidence to connect this Baird family to a branch of the Robinson family in Fairfield Co.
