Patsy,

I am a descendant of Merida Bethune. I would be happy to exchange information about the family. I show the children of Malcum and Nancy Bethune as: James L., Peter M., Ann, Daniel McDuffy, William Malcomb, Nancy Everline, Daniel, August Morgan, Mary Jane, Robert J., Margaret A., and Merdia/Merida D.R. Bethune. I also am corresponding with a descendant of James L. Bethune and a descendant of Robert J. Bethune. I can get you in touch with them as well. It is always interesting to find other family members.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Steve,

I just read your message that you posted this morning. Was the Lester Bethune that you mentioned Lester L. Bethune that was born in 1917 and died in 1970? I have that he was buried in Pleasant View, Dutton Alabama. If that is your great grandfather, then we have a common ancestor about three generations before that. Please let me know if this is your ancestor. If it is, then I can tell you about our common ancestor and his family.

Hi Steve,
I have relatives in Grove Oak, AL. Daniel McDuffy Bethune, listed in an earlier thread is my great great grandfather. After the Civil War, into which he was inducted in 1861 in Griffin, GA, he went to Buck's Pocket on Sand Mountain which is near Grove Oak. The county is DeKalb County, AL. I know that Daniel has a brother Peter that was in the same unit in the war.

I will gladly accept any other information anyone has. I have a picture of Daniel in his uniform and copies of his muster roll during the war but not alot of information on any other of his family.

Seems as though there are alot of us out there.

Keep in touch cousin,
Carol Reynolds

Hello Patsy; in reading your posting on this forum, couldn't help but notice that you may have info on my family as well. My 3rd great grandfather was Robert J. Bethune, and his parents (Malcomb/Malcum Bethune who married to Nancy A. Buck). You mention that you have marriage proof, would it be a problem to share it with me? Also, have you discovered who Malcomb's parents are yet? I hit a wall here. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Vickie

PS. My grandmother's name was Burdice Irene Bethune, and her father was Birdie Dee Bethune, and his father was Robert Oliver "Ollie" Bethune. Any of this ring a bell?
