I need some help trying to figure out my Great Grandfather's side of the Jarnigan line. That's how the name is spelled today.

My great grandfather is Frank Jarnigan, born March 7, 1859 in Tennessee (maybe Morristown??). I'm trying to confirm his father was Alexander Jarnigan, born 1828.

Thanks so much - this is my first time trying to use Ancestry.com

Harriett,

Was this Frank Jarnigan's wife's name Margaret Harriet Yount? Because my great grandmother, Margaret Harriet Yount, married Franklin "Frank" Jarnigan on April 28, 1879 in Hawkins County, TN. I have his date of birth listed as March 7, 1859 but the birth place I have listed as probably Grainger County. I do know that Hamblen County is established out of part of Grainger County though. I have him listed as the son of Alexander Jarnigan and Elizabeth ____________.

Yes, this is the same Margaret Harriett Yount that I am talking about ... Jarnigans is my Grandmother's people. Nannie Jarnigan married Carter Fields and his daughter, Justine, is my Mother.

Can you give me your phone number so I can call you?

Thanks - mine is 678-630-7934 (Georgia)

I'm having the same problem with Alexander Jarnagin (Can't verify it other than in Dr. William Jarnagins' Book, but have found discrepancies in it.)as you are. My Father Fred Jarnagin grandfather,Harrison Jarnagin, gg Robert Jarnagin. Robert and Harrison Jarnagan were in Lee Co. VA, in1910 census. They spelled Harrison as Hanson, but I know my I had a graet Uncle Silas so Im sure that is them. I guess one day Ill get up that way and dig into some newspapers. Wish you luck as well.

I'm looking for information about Nathan F Jarnigan. He married Mary Farrar. I know of two children, William born about 1848 and Peter born about 1850. This is from the 1860 census and then I can't find them.

Peter is my gr,gr, gr (I think) grandfather. Family "legend" says an ancester ran away and changed his name so I'm not sure the name is even correct.

I can find Mary and her parents.

Would love to know if anyone has information about these Jarnigans who lived in Maury County, TN.
