All the references I find about Johannes mention that he left Germany with a brother but the brother died on the ship before it arrived in America. Does anyone out there ever recall seeing the brothers name?????

Your story is the same as mine. Except I now have a Plott Hound. I do have some history on the hound. The breeder wrote a book about the hound. My family came from Okla. Alabama, and Ark. I do not know the name of the surviving brother. Would appricate any more information. Glendia

I am from the Plotts that ended up in Rockbridge, VA in the early 1800's...and I think were in Montgomery Co/Boutetourt in the late 1700's. I am at the point in my research where I think there must have been more than Johannes Plott who made it here. I've "heard" that one brother died on the boat. And, I've also "heard" that there was another Plott that landed 8 years before Johannes (the line that bred the Plott hounds).
I am looking for the parents of Henry Plott and I am also looking to make sure that Henry had a son named Abraham (b about 1800) who moved to Rockbridge. Every Henry Plott I've ever found stayed in NC. My Henry ended up in Ind. and was married to Catherine Entsminger. Was there another brother somewhere?
Let me know if you are interested in this line of research..

hi-I have several Henry Plotts in my line but they are the N Carolina/Ga Henrys of which you are already aware of-I haven't seen any info that would confirm another Plott besides Johannes coming over from Germany but there are the Plotts in Virginia that don't seem to be related to the N Carolina plotts as far as I can tell so it would seem that there has to be another immigrant-if I find any further info I will post it

The 1790 census images online list a George Plott in NC, John Plott in York PA, and another John Plott in Brooklyn, NY. Certainly, Johannes did not have two brothers named John...Also, in a late 1700 NY land transaction, there is a reference to a witness named Capt John Plott. There had to be another Plott...and since the names are recylced so much (Henry, John, Joseph), I wonder if there is a relationship. If I could only find that link.....

I am a decendant of Johannes and as far as I can tell noone knows who his brother was, if we could find Elias we could find out. As to the Plott Hounds it is documented that Johannes brought 2 hounds with him and bred them and he and his son introduced the Plott Hounds. I found the doucmentation in a Resource Room at the Haywood County Library in Waynesville, NC

Diane, there are a lot of books there in that library to look through in the records room. Most of the information that I found were in the Haywood County and Bumcombe County books but since it has been 3 or 4 years I cant remember what years they had on them

Another Plott landed in Virginia . His name was George (Garret) Plott. He landed from Zweibrucken in 1741. That was
9 years before Johannes (George) landed in Pennsylania in 1750. There are some Henry's in that line as well.
