I found David Wandless Verdon. He was an Uncle to Joseph William Verdon, Gwens father and my Grandfather. David Verdon was married to a Walker in England in 1902 and moved to Montreal where he died at the age of 46.

I haven't checked this for a while, thanks for your message. What is your name? I am Gwens nephew and we have the family wedding picture of David Wandless to Ms. Walker with my grandfather Joseph Verdon (Gwens father) as a young child at the wedding in England you referred to. Did David Wandless have children and where are they? Who was your grandfather, I didn't understand?

I am maternal granddaughter of Carmelite Verdon, daughter of Henry Verdon. My gmother once told me that Gwen Verdon was her cousin. This was her response to me upon my discovering there was a Gwen Verdon, the actress. Same family? My family settled in New Orleans in the late 1800s. There were tweleve children of Henry Verdon and Anne Wahl(Wall). Long life spands for Verdons, all lived to be in their late 80s-90s. Henry lived to be some 97yrs..

Would love to connect the families but cannot so far. Gwen's father was Joseph William Verdon, b. in London, 1896, son of Joseph William Verdon b. Aston, Yorkshire, 1854. This Joseph's mother was named Sarah. Gwen's Uncle (and source for possible cousins) was David Wandless Verdon (Wally). The whole family moved to Montreal when Gwen's father was a small child and from there to Los Angeles. I think Wally went to British Columbia. Gwen's grandfather Joseph William also had a brother James, who had sons John and George. Two family members I've heard mentioned but never managed to tie in are Percy ad Bertram Verdon. Any of this sound familiar in your family line?

I had an Uncle George Verdon, Uncle Paul Verdon, a cousin, the other uncles(all great) were Earl, Henry, Alvin and Adolph. Girls were Vera, Patrica, Mona, Claire and Carmelite and Rose. We have a large family. I know not where we originated from. They were all born to Henry Verdon in the early 1900s here in New Orleans, Louisiana. Not all even have birth certificates. I know my great grand parents did not.

Jay; I found some of your family, but cannot trace them further back than Louisiana. Henry Verdon (b. abt. 1855) married Mariza Maire Guttierez (b. Abt. 1857) 30 Oct 1884. Both were born in Louisiana. Their children were Henry H., Matilda, Carmelite, and Margarette. Henry H. (b. 10 Aug 1890) married Annie Elizabeth Wall (b. abt. 1891) 14 Nov 1911. In the 1930 census their children were Carmelite, Henry, Paul, Earl, George, Alvin, Adolphe, Beauregard, Edmona, and Alvar.
A Henry Verdon was born to Auguste Verdon (b. abt. 1818, New Orleans) and Annette Parson (b. abt. 1828, New Orleans) 10 Oct. 1852 (birth records LA) These three show up in the 1879 US census with Henry born abt. 1854 (age 16) It is possible this is the Henry who married Mariza, but the birth year is slightly off. Gwen's family came from England after 1900. It would be great if we could tie the families in together.

This is just astonishing! If it is not the same family, how interesting! Both families have used the same first names to dress the last name, "Verdon!" As it has been said, "There are no coinsidences in life!" Paralel names, paralel lives, oppostie sides of the pond! Very interesting, I must admit. Life is stranger than fiction by far excedes imagination. Wonder if physical traits are just as similar?

Nicely done, Paul. By the way my, Uncle Paul and I were close in age and close as friends. I miss him so, four yrs. now, just months following my little brother Jay. They were best friends all their lives. The three of us were extremely close. My heart still misses them so very much. Thanks for this, I never knew
