Vernie,

Here is what I think I know about your family.

Vernie's family is found in the 1910 Census of Andrew Co, Missouri.
I will start there and see if I can move backwards.

1910 Missouri Andrew Co

George Weidner = Dora ___________
b 1868 | b 1877
KS | Mo
|
Claude Weidner
1897 Mo

Verna Weidner
1899 Mo

Glen Weidner
1903 Mo

Gladys Weidner
1905 Mo

Virgil Weidner
1908 Mo

Moving back to 1900:

1900 Missouri Andrew Co

George Weidner = Dora ___________
b 8-1868 | b 11-1877
KS | Mo
|
Claude H Weidner
6-1897 Mo

Verna A Weidner
3-1899 Mo

Then to 1880 Kansas Levenworth Co, we find:
[Notice the change in the spelling of the surname]

George Widener = Matilda F ___________
b 1845 | b 1856
KS | Mo
|
James H Widener
1867 KS

George W Widener
1869 KS

Mary E Widener
1872 KS

Samantha Widener
1879 KS

Then to 1870 Kansas but in Jefferson Co, we find:
[ notice once more a change spelling in the csnsus!]

George W Wydner = Amanda ___________
b 1847 | b 1851
KS | Mo
|
James Wydner
1867 KS

George Wydner
1869 KS

[Note: I cannot explain that the wife is named Amanda in this census
and Matilda in the 1880 unless Amanda was deceased and George W then
remarried. More work is needed here.]

During this census of 1870, we find living in the neighboring farm
is the family of James Wydner and from this I was able to connect
to the family of Samuel Widener and Patience Doane from Washington
Co, Virginia. Samuel was born about 1792 Va and Patience abt 1803 Va.

Since this service does not provide a way to see your email, others
are unable to contact you directly. I will pass this on to an email
list where other Wideners congregate and correspond.

I you desire to have other reach you, send me an email at:

lwidner@earthlink.net

I will then put other Widener Valley, Washington County Virginia
researchers in touch with you.

Regards
Lee Widner

Gus does not strike any bells.
What part of Mo was he from? I will keep an eye
out for his family and I will ask my parents
if they know of him. If you would like to send
me something more on location in Mo and aprox. time
he was here I will try to look him up for you
whem things slow down a little.

Vernie is my Great Aunt. My father remembers
her pretty well. I think I may even have
some pictures of her and I think I have one
her and the whole Hovey clan. I also have our
ancestor's back to Johann Widener who came from
Germany.
If you think I can be of further help please
let me know. You can respond directly if you
would like. My Email is billw@ccp.com

To Bill Widener;
I have a Johann Widener in my ancestry.he would have been my gggggrandfather. His daughter Marion married Charles Stigler/Stiltner.Their daughter Nancy married
John Lester and their daughter Priscilla married Andrew Boyd. My grandfather was Benjamin Boyd. My mother is Martha Boyd Presley. My Johann Widener was born in 1733 in Germany, died 1808 in Washington Co. VA.
is this possibly your Johann Widener? I'm really interested in finding some of my
mother's ancestry.I live in Ohio.

Yes Johann is my Grandfather about nine
generations back. His Grandson Samuel R.
Widener came to MO and settled near Iatan.
That's how my anscestors ended up here.
How can I help you?
