I had posted a query about this ship's list somewhere.... I received an answer but cannot get to it. If any one knows where I can get a passenger ship list for the ship Wellcome (Welcome) that left England Aug. 1682 and arrived in Delaware Oct. 1682 and had William Penn on board, please let me know. Thank you. DebAU92@cs.com

istg.rootsweb.com. Look under the date, departure, name of ship. Good luck.

I have been unable to access the Distantcousin site. It's says there is something wrong with the page. The other one at roots web has the ship but it was another voyage. I'm looking for the ship Welcome that left England Aug 1682 and arrived in New Castle Delaware Oct. 1682. If you see the list look for a Charles Schweitzer. Also in the log should be a record of his marriage on board the ship to a Mary Mackalaway. It should be the same ship William Penn was on. Thanks......
Debbie

Deborah, I haven't had any problems getting on " Distantcousins" or istg.rootsweb.com. I did look today for Charles Schweitzer, and Mary Mackalaway; I did not find either one listed. However, I did see William Penn listed as a passenger. The master of the ship is listed as" Robert Greenway". I searched in the list of captains only, no luck. You can post queries. I will continue to see what else I can find. Have you tried Ancestry.com. Sometimes when I am unable to get on a site I look under "Search", you can fool the computer that way. Today I am unable to print for some reason. These computers are so frustrating at times. I am so new at this. We have only had our computer a couple of months; so I make a lot of dumb mistakes!
Could your people have boarded the ship under different names? I have found out doing reasearch on my g-grandfather that they were escaping religious persecutions. Well, just a thought. Many of the lists are still being transcribed; that is the case with me. I found my grandfather's ship, but the date is wrong. I will keep trying to help you if you wish. You are lucky in a way. I'm stuck with the Swedish name changes. For instance- if the father's name was Bengt his sons would become Bengtsson, and the daughters would go by Bengtsdotter. It makes it very hard to know who belongs to whom. Don't give up or get discouraged.

Jan,
I'm not so lucky. Our name went from Schweitzer to Sweitzer to Switzer so I have been searching numerous names. I am dissappointed that you found no Schweitzer on there. It was only a family rumor though. Perhaps they came on a different ship and just lived in Penns community. I will try distantcousins again. My computer has really been acting up too. Yesterday I tried for 3 hours to get online and kept getting thrown off. Today it seems to be fine. You don't have to search for me but if you run across the Schweitzer name let me know. I appreciate all your help. I do use USGenweb, Ancestry.com, and all of those to do my research. I have found a couple cousins. Thanks again. By the way my email address is DebAU92@cs.com if you want to contact me directly. Debbie
