I have hit a wall w/Abram Werdenschlag (b.1868) and Elizabeth Werdenschlag (b. 1871). After 1900 they disappeared. Any info?

Locations for births? marriage? residence? children's births?

Thank you. All the info on them is in my family tree (Kerr Family-my name is Patricia Gill). I have been trying to solve this mystery for 6 years. I can trace the entire family except their death and burial. After 1905 they vanished from all records in New York City. They are my great grandparents and I want to find out what happened to them. They were married in NY and lived and raised a family there. The whole family appears in the 1900 census...then, gone!

I just tried a search at http://www.fultonhistory.com/Fulton.html for Werdenschlag and all sorts of articles (bankruptcy, marriage, death) came up for various relatives, children...I haven't found Abram and his wife yet, but maybe you'll have better luck.

The search is free.

(I was getting an error message when viewing the articles, but I just kept zooming in and it went away.)

Thanks, I will give it a try. NO ONE in this side of the family knows anything. It seems to be the "great family mystery" and I am determined to solve it.

From the few references I saw, I believe the family was Jewish. You may find info at the Jewish Genealogical Society www.jgsny.org.

I found these two deaths:

Surname Given Name Age Month Day Year

Werdenschlag Abraham 81 y Dec 20 1921 28867 (1921) Manhattan 1839 - 1840 2027767

Note: "Born" year is just an estimate

This is almost certainly Elizabeth's death info (mis-transcribed or mis-typed)

Surname Given Name Age Month Day Year Certificate Number County Born FHL roll number
Wesdenschlag Elizabeth 35 y Feb 11 1905 5193 (1905) Manhattan 1869 - 1870 1323078

You should order her death certificate. That should have enough info for you to confirm whether it's her.

Update: This IS the correct woman, based on the newspaper death notice I found.

I found 219 Werdenschlag "hits" at hathitrust.org. One set was in a butchers' magazine/journal. (Several family members were butchers.)
