I came across an entry for an ancestor, Konrad Anser, from Bartenstein, Wurttemberg circa 1800. It says his occupation was Stand Soldat. What kind of soldier would he have been, and who were they fighting for/against around that time and place?

Image attached reads "Konrad Anser, Stand Soldat" (I think).

Appreciate any feedback.

That makes sense: someone who was a guard, sentry or sentinel. Didn't think of that at first, and I've never seen those source books. Thank you!
