My grandfather on my mother's side of the family was Richard (Doc) Cutlip. They lived until his death in 1976 at Little Birch, WV. His parents had property at Bays, which is in Nicholas County near the Braxton County line. Their is a family graveyard on the home place. My grandfather's father was adopted but his birth name was Cutlip and the Baber's who adopted him kept his birth name. I am sorry that I cannot remember what my great-grandparents first names were. I hope this helps.

My great grandmother was Cyrena Cutlip. I believe that she was a full blooded Cherokee. The names, John and Franklin are often paired im my family. Makes you wanna say hmmmm. Anyhow, There was a Philander Smallwood who married Cyrena and was my great grandfather. Morgantown WV was thier home. I believe that James Framklin Smallwood, my grandfather burned the family bibble because it heal records that indicated that his mother was Cherokee.
If you have any more information, please let me know, even if it is no information.

Thanks,
Bob Smallwood

Hi Bob,
Sure would like to think we are linked, but all I know about my great grandmother Cutlip was that her name was Sara(Sarah) ad that my grandmother lived in Washington DC, or in the immediate area, as my grandfather John Franklin Boyle was a contractor there whene he met my grandmother.
Sarah Cutlip, married a ? Donaldson, they had I believe 11 children, Matilda Donaldson, my Grandmother was one of them.
I have some photos of my maternal grandparents, one of which has a woman in it that I believe is one of my grandmothers sisters. I would Email a copy of it to you if you would like to see it.
My Email address is jagarchitect@aol.com
