Here is what little I have. It is mostly marriage and tax records. March 16, 1767 John McGuire marries Mary Brandon. George Brandon and THOMAS McGUIRE bondsmen. Thomas Frohock witness. Tax record - 1768, Timothy McGuire-1,THOMAS MCGUIRE-1 = 2. This record indicates that Timothy is considered head of household but does not state that he and THOMAS are father and son. You have the marriage record for 1770. 1772 - tax records, Iredell County - Walter Lindsey District. Timothy McGuire = 1.
JOHN DOBBINS plus sons Andrew and James, negroes - London and Jude = 5.
THOMAS MCGUIRE = 1. This record would indicate that John Dobbins lived between Timothy and THOMAS.
1773 map prepared by William Sharpe shows Timothy and THOMAS McGuire living about 1 mile apart on Porter's Branch of the Yadkin River.
1778 tax list - Captain Armstrong's District
THOMAS McGUIRE = 520.13.8 pounds
Captain Caldwell's District
Timothy McGuire = 3540.7.0 pounds
1784 - Tax list of captain George Reed's District.
THOMAS McGUIRE - 350 acres, 1 white person - 1 black person.
1787 - Tax list of Jacob Nichols District.
THOMAS MCGUIRE: White males 21-60 yrs.= 1, White males under 21 and over 60 yrs.= 4, white females=6, black persons over 12 and under 50 yrs.= 1 The earlier tax records only listed the taxables in a household. The taxables were white males between 21 and 60 years old and slaves between 12 and 50 years old. As you get closer to 1790 the tax lists start to look more like what the 1790 Federal census would look like. Concerning the marriage record for THOMAS in 1770 the bondsmen were David Caldwell and William Bailey, Thomas Frohock witness. I have been told by other people researching Jane Dobbins Rutledge that she was the widow of Isaac Rutledge and that they had 2 children together, James and William Rutledge. David Caldwell was appointed the guardian of James Rutledge. The Timothy McGuire I mention here, I believe to be my ancestor. After the marriage record of Jane McGuire, daughter of Timothy McGuire, to Thomas Bell in Iredell County 1783 or 1784 I can find no more on Timothy McGuire in Iredell County. I do find a Timothy McGuire in Greene County GA. He buys land there in 1786. Timothy dies in 1797 and the administrators of his estate are John McGuire and JAMES RUTLEDGE. The previous year James McGuire who had married Polly George in Greene County, GA in 1794 dies and the administrator of his estate is JAMES RUTLEDGE.I would be interested in the information you have on the McGUIRE family you have in Ohio. I would really like to find some informaton on Nancy Agnes who is reported to have married a man named BONE, first name unknown. I would like to know his given name and date of marriage. I hope some of the informaton I sent is helpful.
