I am seeking information about the O'Keefe family of Co.Limerick, especially parents of Hanora (born c. 1800). Related to Daniel O'Connell, Irish political leader. Several children of Hanora and Edmund Glavin settled in U.S. in 1850's. Dates also appreciated.

I have information on some O'Keeffes from Limerick Co. The Hanora we have was born in 1833. When where did your Glavins settle in the US?

My Glavins settled in SW Michigan (Berrien Co.) and Chicago. I am afraid 1833 would be too late, as her son, John M. Glavin, was born that year. It might be a branch of the same family, though. Where are the ones you know about? Let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Donna

They are also from Co. Limerick, from Ballaghbehy. They are married to Woulfes, Murphy, Nelligan, McAuliffes, and Quirkes.

Do you know whether there is any connection between your Thomas and a Laurence (Lawrence) O'Keefe, born about 1813-1817 in Ireland, married to Mary Barry, born in Ireland about 1811-1814, children: John (born about 1838 in Ireland), Johanna (born about 1845 in Ireland), Hannah (born about 1846/47 in Massachusetts), and Thomas (born about 1849 in Massachusetts)?

Based on the births of the the children listed in the census, they came to the U.S. between 1845 and 1847 to Massachusetts - probably Boston?

From there, the census shows they went to the Fox Valley in Wisconsin - Nekimi, Winnebago County, in 1850, Black Wolf, Winnebago County, in 1860 and 1870, and Appleton, Outagamie County, in 1880.

Around the turn of the century it seems like the only O'Keefe's in Appleton were related to either Lawrence or Thomas so I was hoping someone would know whether there was a connection or just coincidence (i.e., stories about "that other O'Keefe family we're not related to").

I can be reached at dodie.ohare@charter.net Thanks

RE: update Thomas O'Keefe- entered us at NY, lived at Rochelle NY, then Holyoke,MA & perhaps Chicopee MA as
his son Thomas was born/baptised at Chicopee. Witness were Cornelius & Hannah O'Keefe or OKeiffe, their relationship
to each other and to Thomas above unknown as Thomas (1816) did not have a brother Cornelius.

John O'Keefe,

Do you have any idea where your John O'Keefe was living around 1870 - 1876?

I have a John O'Keefe who was in the Civil War, Wisconson, and mustered out in Little Rock, AR., in the 1860's.

I also have a John O'Keefe who lived in Kentucky in the early 1870's and was a brick layer. He moved to Indiana, 1876. He knew my GGrandfather, John Cox, b. 1858.

The more I look at this the more interesting your question is.
Do you have the location for hannah's birth? The area I'm refering to (Chicopee,MA or Holyoke,MA ) is a milling area which is why Thomas was there as he learned the mill construction Business England prior to coming here. And, that is probaly why he moved to GreenBay. See my other folloup regarding this message. I am checking directories , census's regarding the O'Keefe,O'Keiffe, or keefe's in Boston and is I see Lawrences name , will post
