Does anyone have any information or further insight into the above names? The following info is from a letter written in 1942 to my father-in-law from his mother. He needed some family history for a background check when he joined the US Air Force.

Violet Mary Jenkins-Cartwright - maiden name Violet Mary Quesnel born 1896-March 16th, Newdale Manitoba, Canada. Married 1912 in Brandon, Manitoba

Your Father - Victor Wellington Jenkins born 1885 June 14th in Cody's New Brunswick, Canada. Your father was principal of the Nainamo High School B.C. Canada, had a B.A. degree. I haven't heard of him for several years. He will be teaching yet very likely - down here he would be called a professor.

Your paternal grandfather - Wellington Herbert Jenkins, B.A. M-A. D.D. Baptist Minister born in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada. British for his father mother lived in Wales, England - name used to Jenkins-Jones. Direct descendants from the Duke of Northumberland - Harry "Hotsfer" Percy (that is where Vincent got his despised second name "Percy" from) related on his mothers side.

Your paternal grandmother - was born Cody's N.B. Canada also same house your father was born in, she is Scottish and Irish descent- her father was born in Scotland and mother in Ireland. Her name was Mary Hetherington. He father - Mr. Heatherinton was alive - still living on his old home place when your father and I visited there in 1913.

Your maternal grandmother - maiden name was Lucy Ann Sauder born October 24th- 1874 in Kitchener Ontario, Canada. Became citizen of USA Feb 25, 1938. Her mother was born near Kitchener, Ontario, her name was Mary Willfang. Her mother's father and mother were both born in Penn. USA. Her father Peter Sauder was born in Germany 124 years ago - came to Canada 100 years ago and was glad to get away due to the cruel way he was treated there then.

Your paternal grandfather - William Wesley Quesnel was born in Brockville, Ontario, Dec 18th, 1870 - his father was born in France of french parents. His mother was born in Brockville, Ontario, her parents were Irish and Scotch descent.

Quite a mixture isn't it? Good at that I think. Your fathers people especially were all very well educated. One Uncle - Fred Jenkins was Chief of Police in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada. Another Uncle was a very noted physician of Boston, Mass. Another was an old Sea Captain. He, Victor, liked the Sea Captain best account of the salty stories he could tell.

Bonnie,
I wish I knew more, but I don't. My father-in-laws mother, Violet Quesnel, passed away in 1984, which was way before I started or had any interest in family history. Which is unfortunate.

This is what I know:

Notes for VIOLET QUESNEL:
VIOLET MARY QUESNEL’S parents were WILLIAM WESLEY QUESNEL b. December 18, 1870 in Brockville, Ontario Canada and LUCY ANN SAUDER b. October 24, 1874 Elmira, Waterloo, Ontario Canada, m. October 1, 1890 in Dyers Bay, Ontario, Canada. Their children were: LOREN WESLEY QUESNEL b. 8/1/1891, OSCAR EARL QUESNEL b. 5/27/1894, VIOLET MARY QUESNEL b. 3/13/1896 and ALVIN HUNTER QUESNEL b. 9/18/1897 d. Jan 1985.

Violet was married a few times. First to VICTOR WELLINGTON JENKINS, then JOSEPH EDWARD CARTWRIGHT and lastly to ___ SPEARE when she married Joseph Edward Cartwright, he adopted Vernon, Clarissa and Vincent. Vernon and Clarissa took the Cartwright name, but Vincent changed his name to St. Clair. The first marriage was terminated by divorce, the second and third were by death of natural causes. She outlived them all and passed on January 24, 1984 at the age of 88.

Do you have any more information there that you can share with me? Perhaps some photos as well? Please email me directly @ cartwrightj@home.com

Thank you in advance for your input.

Between my ancestors is a Peter Sauder, born 28 Dec 1816 in Germany and died 1 Apr 1896 in Waterloo Township, Ontario, Canada. His first child he left back in Germany. In Canada he had 14 Children with Mary Willfong (Wildfang). Thier 14th child was Lucy Sauder, born 24 Oct 1874 in Waterloo Township, Ontario, Canada.

I think, this is the same Peter Sauder as in the letter from 1842. If you are interested in more information, please answer here or email me directly h-u.sauder@t-online.de . Sorry, I am from germany and my english is not as good.

I have some information concerning the Jenkins line since the Rev. Wellington Herbert Jenkins is a 2nd great grand uncle of mine. I've been doing some research on that branch due to the marriage of Wellington's sister Maria Elizabeth into the Howe line of Kings County, New Brunswick

Hi,
My Mom is the daughter of Oscar Earl Quesnel, sister of Violet. He married my Grandmother Olena Nerby, from Nerby, Sorskogbygda, Norway, in Rose Valley, Saskatchewan, in 1930. They were married for maybe seven years, but Oscar was a philanderer and eventually left my Grandmother Olena alone to bring up my Mom and Uncle Leslie. They never divorced, but Oscar had a bunch of kids with another woman, whom he never married. He worked in various jobs, logging camp, horse wrangler, etc. He died of leukemia in 1952 in Flin Flon, Manitoba. Apparently, he was in hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba, for the leukemia, when his father, your relative William, who my Mom never met, went to Winnipeg and took Oscar back to Flin Flon to die at home. I'd like to know more about the French ancestors. Anyone have any info on the French side?

Also, Oscar Quesnel was married once before my Grandmother, (Olena Nerby Quesnel), to his first wife with whom he had four children named Helen, Dorothy, Melford and Stan Quesnel. We don't know his first wife's name, but she died, then Oscar married my Grandmother Olena Nerby, in Rose Valley, Saskatchewan. The first round of kids lived with my Grandmother in a farm my Grandmother bought for Oscar, along with a car for him. After Oscar left my Grandmother for another woman, everyone eventually moved to Flin Flon, Manitoba. Stan and Helen stayed in Flin Flon their whole lives. Helen married Lawrence Quall and they had children. Dorothy married Lawrence's brother, Adolph Quall in Flin Flon, and they had nine children. They later split and Dorothy moved to Vancouver, British Columbia. Melford went to Edmonton and opened a donut shop and apparently did fairly well.

Good Day

I am not sure if you can help but I am wondering if you know anything about a Fred Oscar Quesnel. He was my grandfather. I really don;t have a lot of information on him other than the fact that he was from the Flin Flon area - he did have siblings but I do not know how many. He was living in Edmonton where he had a son with Clara Rachel Strid in January 1959 named Ronnie. Fred died in 1980 or 1981 ( not sure of the year). Any help you can give me would be great.

Thanks and look forward to seeing if you may know anything about him
