G.J.T. came from quite a large family and i have a good WMT family tree so any information no matter how trivial would be greatly appreciated.

Would you mind checking your family tree for my ggg grandfather, George Thackeray, born 18 Apr 1836 in York, Yorkshire, England? He came to US in 1853 and settled in Utah. Would appreciate your help. The only info I have is from the internet so you may have it as well. George's father was Robert, born 8 Oct 1746, in Yorkshire and mother, Martha Smith. Thanks.

Surnames: Thackeray
Our family always claimed to be related to WMT, to the point of keeping the Makepeace middle name in at least one generation. Unfortunately, my grandfather died 15 years before I was born. If you have a William born 1898 married to Bertha Morris, we might have a link. Sorry no more info than that.

Hi, Rosalie

Sorry about the delay in reply, i'm sorry i can't find your ggg grandfather on my family tree. I have a George James Thackeray b. 7/2/1840 but he served in the British army and was based in India so he can't be the same one. If you have any other information i would be interested in hearing from you.

Regards
Jamie

Hi Frank,

No sorry i can't find your "William" on my tree do you know if he was born in the US, the only two people i can find who emigrated to the US in that time period are
William George Thackeray b. 8/7/1880 and Ernest John Thackeray b. 27/05/1882. i have useful information on William George but have drawn a complete blank on Ernest John. If your surname was spelt 'Thackery' i think it would be unlikely that you are related to WMT but possible i suppose. Have you tried the forum on genealogy.com ?

My George's parents were Robert Thackeray and Elizabeth Jackson. Robert was born 28 Mar 1798, St. Sampsons Parish, York, Yorkshire. Elizabeth Jackson born 1797 in Land, Drick Co., Khamstead. We probably aren't related but isn't this an interesting hobby!
