Hello - chasing a lead here that Mr. Gowdie (all that is known at the moment) was the stepfather of Lemuel Coll and was the first schoolmaster when the school opened in 1828 in Ridgetown.

Lemuel Coll (1820) would have been the son of Samuel Coll & Mary Ann Sherman Coll.

Interested in finding out:

1. Mr. Gowdie's proper name.

2. Any info on the marriage of Mary Ann Coll to Mr. Gowdie. This would have been between 1821-28.

3. Any information on eventual death of Mary Ann Sherman Coll Gowdie.

There are two Lemuel Colls buried Morpeth Cemetery, HOward Tsp, Kent County.
This is where your Lemuel lived according to census.
Perhaps the cemetery would have information re Gowdie.
I did not see the name on OCFA but there may not have been any headstones or they have disintegrated over time.

Hello Satch42179 - Actually, I have 3 Lemuel Colls in my tree. I thought I had the two at Morpeth but of the 3 - I have 1 at Sherman Cemetery and 1 at Morpeth. Also, the Find A Grave link only revealed 1 at Morpeth. Do you have the details on the second Lemuel Coll at Morpeth? I have Lemuel Coll 1820-1906 in Morpeth.
