I am interested in this name "Sinon"

My g/grandfather was John James Gorman he came to Canada

in the 1825/30 era, lore is that he came with a married

sister a Mrs. Russell, her husband was a soldier at Richmond

also a brother Simon/Sinon came with them, John James was

in the Richmond area until 1854, when he recieved a land

grant in Grattan Township, he now was married to Eleanor

Mahoney of S.Elmsley township,

The only history I have of Simon/Sinon is at the time of

John James death in Renfrew, in 1903, the obit stated that

brother Simon was a tailor,

Still searching for some indication of what happened to

My g/grandfather was Sinon O'Gorman of Renfrew. Reading his obituary, I find no reference to any brothers or sisters, but I can tell you this:

Sinon was born in Kilrush, County Clare, Ireland around 1829
Emigrated to Canada 1835 with parents, settled in Packenham
Moved to Renfrew around 1843
Apprenticed as a cooper and ran his own business until 1855
Married Maria Donnollan Oct 5, 1857
Had 10 children - Bridget, Mary, John, Thomas, Hannora, Sinon James, Ellen, Peter, Margret, Michael Joseph

He died in Renfrew February 14, 1897

If you would like more information, I would be happy to pass it along.

Dan, do you know who Sinon O'Gormans parents were? I have a John Foley O'Gorman born 1765 in Kilrush Clare to Daniel O'Gorman and ? Foley. My line is Honorah O'Gorman b. 1794 to Daniel and Mary Foley, Honorah married Martin Finucane. Honorah had siblings, John, Thomas, Brigid and Hannah. Would like to hear from anyone knowing of this family. Thanks Dorothy

Looks like we are related. Sinon's parents were John O'Gorman b. 1765 County Clare and a daughter of Malachy Foley (no name for his wife). They were married in 1764.
John's siblings were: Thomas, died at an early age; 2nd Thomas 1786-1879; Patrick, died a young man in Ireland; Mary, b. 1788; Brigid, b. 1790; Hannah, b. 1792; Honora, b. 1794; and another unnamed daughter.

I have a document that was done in 1966 that gives a history of the O'Gorman family in County Clare Ireland as well as the family crest and about 10 pages of family information. If you would like a copy, send your mailing address to my e-mail -
Dan O'Gorman

Hi I was wondering if you could send me some details of John and Mary O'Gorman and their 7 children.
I am searching for my great gran's family- she was Mary O'Gorman and one of seven children. I know the chance is slim but I am looking everywhere. Thanks in advance, if you are able to help. T.
