Hi Cathy.....I was wondering if you have made any progress on your Cox family history.

Our line is William Cox b. abt. 1835 GA., d. 1929 Howell Co., MO., m. Margaret "Martha" Pierce. They are living in Newton Twp., Shannon Co., MO. in the 1860 census.

William apprears to be the son of Austin Cox Sr. b. 1817-1819 Georgia, and Elizabeth ? b. 1815-1819 Georgia. They are found in the Shannon Co. 1850 Census, and thereafter.

Is your James Monroe Cox the son of William Cox and Sabra (?) Cox-Campbell?

And, was William Cox a brother to Austin Cox, Sr.?

Thanks for any information.

Surnames: Summers, Berger
My great grandmother was Mary Summers. Mary Summers married a Charles Berger. Mary Summers father was William Summers. Mary had a sister named Susie. They were from Missouri then Illinois. My mother was born in 1926. My grandmother was born in 1901. So Mary Summers was probably born between 1875-1880 and William Summers was probably born around 1850-1860 ???
Does any of this sound familiar?

Hi Gloria. Did your William have a brother named Charley? Have you been able to go further back than William b.1835? I queried you before but could not find a link. I just read your queries and remembered that my grandfather's sister, Ava Jane was born in 1895 Shannon co. and in 1883 Charley married Sarah Foyster/Foster in Howell co. The relative of Sarah Foyster who signed for her to marry "at her mother's home" was surname Henson. Does any of this sound familiar to you at all now?

Hi Nancy....I recall communicating about your Cox ancestors.

William Cox, Sr. (1834-1926) was the son of Austin Cox, Sr. b. 1817-1819 GA. & Elizabeth ? b. 1815-1817 GA.

Austin & Elizabeth Cox had children that I know of:
William Cox (MY LINE) m. Margaret "Martha" Pierce
Austin Cox, Jr. m. Grace Jane ?
Isabell/Jubal Cox
George Washington Cox m. Rebecka Jane Summer

I never have found any further information for the children of William Cox, Sr. and his 2 spouses:
(1st) Margaret "Martha" (Pierce):
Mary Elizabeth Cox b. 1859 (MY LINE) m. Reuben Ferguson Abbey
Charles "Charlie" Cox b. Aft. 1859
George Cox b. Aft. 1859
Sarah "Sally Cox b. Aft. 1859
William Cox, Jr. b. Aft. 1859

(2nd) Unknown
Male Cox
Male Cox

As you can see, I did find out who the parents and siblings of William were, but I've not made any progress on finding further information for his children, other then our Mary Elizabeth (Cox) Abbey. I'm going to have to once again get back at looking in the MO. census for them.

Sorry that I cannot not be of help to you with your Cox right now. I will watch for anything that could help.

Hi Ted......I was exploring the Cox on this website and ran across your posting to one of mine from several months ago. I don't see a response posted by me on the website, and I can't recall if I may have emailed you direct, but in case not....

I have William Summer born about 1849 MO., married Dicianna ? born about 1846 KY. I have 5 children listed for them, one being Mary L. Summer born about 1871. I don't have a sister listed for her named Susan or Susie, but I may not have all the children.

I don't have any extended information for Mary L.

William Summer was the son of Rev. John Adam Summer b. 1805 Morgan Co., TN., d. 1871 Shannon Co., MO. & Virginia Carolina Jane Baumgardner.
