Hello Kay,
Angelica Whitehead Rook Jackson was my 6x ggmtr. Her second husband was Mitchell Jackson. All the info that I have on Virginia Hunt Cabler came from a desc. of Henry and Virginia Cabler. I would love to know what you know about the family and I'll be more than happy to share what little bit I have on Angelica, Mitchell, and their children and grandchildren. I have quite a bit about Angelica which has pretty well been proven and some on Mitchell which I think is correct. He and Angelica have been so elusive that I always try to say "I think" when talking about them. Anyway, you are welcome to whatever I have and I welcome any additions and corrections. I'm hoping that eventually I will have a whole picture of this family.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Jean Hancock in TX

I am not sure if I ever contacted you before this. I had stopped doing much genealogy lately. I have however been looking for my Cabler roots. Henry and his mother Mary Ann-my ggggrandmother. wife: Virginia my gggrandmother. Daughter Jennie Maude (my ggrandmother) and their daughter Pauline: my grandmother. My mom was the illegitimate child of Pauline and an Italian musician Oreste Nstiello. If this email address is good and if you have any more information just contact me by email.

I am still working on this family. I recently learned that Virginia died in Chicago, Il. Her obituary is online and it lists her survivors as Lee Miller, Louisville; J. Foutz, Chicago; E. Culver, Chicago; D. J. Foppiano, Memphis; and J.G. Cabler. She was buried in Memorial Gardens in Louisville. Any further information on any of these inviduals is appreciated.

The only one I am familiar with is J. Foutz. He is John W Foutz a carpet salesman. He is the second wife of Jeannie Cabler Winscott (Virginia's daughter) after she divorced her 1st husband for cruelty. They moved to Chi. in the 20's and had no children by him. His character, however, was well spoken of by a relative. They are buried in Chicago near my grandmother Pauline Winscott Hamlin. Richard Hamlin was an actor/entertainer who also abused his wife. They divorced in Louisville about 1917. Henry was with the L&N railroad which is probably why they moved from Nashville to Louisville. I am searching for cause of death since he died at 42 yrs old. Maybe a railroad accident? I may have to go to Louisville to research that.

J. G. Cabler was her son according to the 1900 census. But I have not tried to do any searching for him.

I last posted in 2009 about the Cablers who you had also a relation. I recently discovered that Henry Cabler died of a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was 41 and was buried 12/29/1889 at Cave HIll Cemetary in Louisville. Eight others relations are buried in the same family plot. Virginia Hunt Cabler was the last in 1942. Do you know anything about the cause of death? I also found a photo of them on ancestry but am not aware of who posted it.

Henry Cabler was a passenger conductor on the L&N railroad. He was fatally shot by a tramp whom he ejected from the train at Old Deposit, KY, at 5:30 PM Dec. 25, 1899 because he refused to pay his fare. He had apparently also been shot the year before by a tramp but survived.
