Hi: I don't know if this will help. I was trying to search my geneology which includes Gamelin. Irene Gamelin Beauchemin was my mother's mother (my grandmother) Her father was Oedipe Gamelin. I know that the original Gamelin family, at least in my line, originated somewhere in Canada, however my more immediate Gamelin relatives were in Vermont--mostly Winooski and Burlington. If this is the family you are interested in, mnaybe we can share what we have in the line of info.

Good luck,
Marie

Hi Marie:

Thank you for your reply! I don't see a connection (there must be one somewhere.......if we go back far enough!) in "recent history" anyway. Do you know who Oedipe's father was?

My grandfather was Emilio Gamelin; his father was Alexandre Gamelin and his father was Joseph Frederic Gamelin (my father was also Joseph.....there were a LOT of Joseph Gamelins!. Joseph Frederic Gamelin's father was also a Joseph (probably a different middle initial......I don't know), married to Therese Cote....but I don't have any dates!

Again, thanks! If you find any Josephs, let me know their spouses' names.....maybe that will connect somewhere! Have a good day.......and many more to come!

Hi Ken: Thanks for your response. I don't know what Oedipe's father's name was, but I can probably find that out and let you know once I do. The only Joseph I am aware of is my first cousin Joseph Beauchemin. He is only in his late 20's so I don't think he would be one of the people you would be looiking for. His wife is Anne and he is the son of Richard Beauchemin--the son of Louis Beauchemin who married Irene Gamelin--the dauaghter of Oedipe and Anne Gamelin. We have a family reunion every year, but it originates with Oedipe. I am assumiong someone in the family will know his parents' names. I'll let you know if I get that info.

Have a great day!

Marie

Hi Ken; I did get some more information. Irene Gamelin came to Vermont when she was 9 months old. The family was from Sainte Chrysastone, Montreal. Her father was Odippe Gamelin and her mother was Anesie Jervais Gamelin. Odippe was born may 29, 1864 and died November 18, 1929. His parents were: Gabriel Gamelin (b. 8/24/1838) and Rosalie Dandurand (b. 9/5/1844). Gabriel's parents were Jacques Gamelin and Francoise Larocheliere (b. 12/13/1806). Jacques' parents were Antoine Gamelin (b. 6/15/1767) and Magdeleine Foucro. Antoine's parents were Pierre Gamelin (b. ca. 1733) and Marie Lajeunesse(b.ca.1735). Francoise Laricheliere's parents were Gabriel Laricheliere[Not sure of significance of different spelling] (b. ca 1780) and Francoise Patenaude (b. ca 1785). Francoise Patenaude's parents were Alexis Patenaude and Charlette Goreaud.
Rosalie Dandurand's parents were Pierre Dandurand (b. 10/16/1815) and Jovite Metchelder (b.ca.1817). Pierre's parents were Antoine Dandurand(c. 7/10/1776) and Marie-Elizabeth Portas ( b. ca. 1778). Antoine's parents were Joseph Dandurand and Madelaine Boudoin. Jovite's parents were William Metchelder and Charlotte Descombes.
That is as much as I have right now. I did not find any Josephs.Let me know if you can find any links or common names if you have a chance, okay? Hope you have a good day!

Hi Leslie:

Your message seemed to have "come out of the blue"! Was your grandfather's name Duhaime? My grandmother (who died when my father was quite young.....long before I was born...58 years ago) was Stephanie Duhaime; she married Emilio Gamelin on Oct. 16, 1905.

Do we "have a match"? If so, then your maiden name is Duhaime........or were you referring to your maternal grandfather (as the brother of "my grandmother")?

Do you live in Canada........or in the states?

Whether we are related.......or not......I appreciate your response! Thank you!
