Aloha,
my name is Joslyne Ball and I am a descendant of the Kaaihue Line of Maui. My Gma is (the late) Josephine Theresa Long,My Grand-Uncle is (the late my gma's only brother)Herbert Anthony Kaaihue of Maui. I'm looking for any information of my Tutu's Ohana if there is any one out there. I'd like to connect with you. You may contact me thru email (pupulewahine808@aol.com) or facebook.

Aloha...my grandparents are John Lihau and Cecelia Kaaihue of Lehaina, Maui. I don't recognize the names in your post, however, it doesn't mean that there might not be a connection somewhere in the Kaaihue family tree. Good luck on your search. Tracing the Hawaiian Ohana can be very difficult because of the lack of records. My understanding is that getting copies of death certificates helps the best.

The only one that I can find close to that name that we could be connected through is Joseph and Josephine Marciel.

Mahalo for the helpful tips. I found out that there was a name change awhile back. Charles Kaaihue Kaainui is linked to me. Can't confirm it. So somewhere along the line I'll find it.

Just before my Grandmother Josephine Theresa Long/Kaaihue passed away. She told me what had happened to her as a little girl growing up on Maui. Apparently my Tutu meet a man and had my Grandma. But this man came from a well-to-do family or he was married already. When my Grandma started school she carried the name Long. And because she didn't look like one of them, my Tutu was told to change her name. So she carried the name Kaaihue. My late Grand-Uncle and his children carry Kaaihue and still live on Maui. Their line is the only ones from my family that hood the last name Kaaihue. My oldest daughter who is 16 yrs old carries the Kaaihue as her middle name. My Mom wanted our family name to live on. So I can see how names change along the way, due to family fueds, misspelled, or even cause the white man can't pronounce the name correctly. But I will find a link to connect me to ancestors.

Aloha,

I too am looking for more information regarding the Kaaihue Ohana. My tutu-lady was Mary Apikaila Napahu Kaaihue. From what I could gather, her father was Napahu Kaaihuie, aka Napahuowali Kaaihue. His father was Kaaihue `Owali, his father was `Owali Kaaihue `Owali. Though I was ablet of ind this information, I want to be able to corroborate my findings. Can anyone here suport this finding??
