Hello out there to anyone from Strabane, Northern Ireland - birthplace of my father Michael John and grandfather (same name). My Dad's bothers and sisters - Patrick, Antony, Gabriele, Rosie, Reba and Jean. My auntie Jean lives near us now in South Yorkshire, England. Me & my sister Patricia Anne were both born in Barnsley South Yorks. I have contacted an Irish bottling firm and blagged a few bottles of "McDaids FootballSpecial" - a soft drink with the McDaid label on it - i gave as gifts to the family. Anyone want to contact me feel free.

Dear Donna,
My grandfather Joseph McDaid also lived in Strabane(where I was born although I now live in Australia). He was married to Mary (Dinsmore) and he owned a butcher shop in the town. He died around 1956? and my grandmother died around 1961. There are many of my family still living in Strabane although only three of the 12 McDaid children from this familya re still alive. I wonder how we are connected? I am having great difficulty tracking the McDaid heritage. Any help would be appreciated. Joseph was born in Derry and had a brother called William John and two sisters Alice and Jeannie?
Thanks Linda

Hello Linda, Where abouts are you in Ozland? My dad's Sister (previously mentioned) Gabrielle Stonehouse (Nee McDaid) and her family moved to Australia- New South Wales
in the early eighties. We still keep in touch via email. I haven't got much history going back to Strabane but can tell you my grandmother (Mary) died around 1965 and my grandad died around 1973. My uncle Patrick (Packie) has much more info on the ancestry he lives in Buckinghamshire.

My grandmother, Rose McDaid married John Campbell and went to Argentina in 1926. Both from Derry, Northern Ireland. One of Rose's brothers came to USA and became a pilot. I don't know if we have any connection.

As far as i can trace back my entire McDaid family have been from Strabane and Ballymagorry in Northern Ireland. I would love to get in contact and see if we are related in any way.

More information on my grandfather:
Brothers: Philip McDaid (Strabane) , Michael McDaid (Strabane) Pat McDaid (Wales)
Sisters: Shela McCauley (Originally McDaid from Strabane) , Mary O'Kane (Originally McDaid from Strabane) , Eena McDaid (Co. Antrim) and Evelyn McDaid (Strabane).

Please get back to me a.s.a.p as I would like to meet more of my family and re-trace broken roots.

Regards,

Nicole McDaid

Hi
I hope you still get this message as have only just found your post which is over 6 years old. I believe that John Campbell is part of my family tree. Do you have anymore information about him? My grandfather was Charles Campbell (my great grandfather another Charles Campbell) who I believe is John's father. I know he went to Argentina. I have some notes from a family member at home which also mentions a relative having gone to the US and became a military man possibly a colonel but will have to check my notes. I will come back to you on this but in the meantime if you can share any information that would be great.
Regards
Emma
