I am looking for Waltrip's in Missouri. My great grandmother was married to a Waltrip, but I don't know his name. her name was Hattie Jane Bray. They had two children--- Opal Waltrip born 1902 and Raymond Waltrip born 1904. It is possible that Hattie never married the Waltrip. Would you happen to know anything about him?? Oh, they lived in St. Joseph, MO

Thanks in advance,
Kelly (Waltrip) Coulter

My grandparents also live in Clarkton, MO...
For the life I me I can not remember their first names..But I do remember my Uncle Floyd, that also lived there..My fathers' name was Joe John Waltrip and he also had a brother named Roy.
This was back in the 1960's. I remember going there every year for vacation until they died...Boy, that was a small town.

Scott, I believe I have a match with your Elijah/Delilah Waltrip info and would love to get more details on your sources. I am helping my step daughter research her Waltrip line and today we received a FL death cert for James Booth Waltrip, b Nov 1, 1901, d Dec 14, 1973 (this is her GGrandfather). It lists his parents as James Martin Waltrip and "Georgella" Phillips. This is consistent with other research into the Phillip(s) family and the marriage of Georgia E's niece, Eula, daughter of her sister Alice Pearl) to James B Waltrip. Alice Pearl Philip was born in Rocky Comfort, MO in 1877 and both Alice and Georgia are in the 1880 census in Neosho, Newton Cty, Mo.
Any details or previous research welcome, and any info from our research happily shared!!
Pam

There is a plaque at Oak Grove Cemetery near Clarkton, MO with an etching of Martha Waltrip Wright on it. If anyone has the photo from which that etching was made, please reply. I'd love to have it, since she was my GG grandmother and I have never seen a photo of her.
