Degrees of consanguinity

This may seem fairly elemental but I am trying to sort out what this means in my 4th great-grand-parents marriage record in St. Andrew's West: dispensation for third & fourth and third & fourth degrees of consanguinity.
Thanks for your help.

Found a pretty good definition concerning consanguinity in a genealogy context on this website:
http://www.islandregister.com/consanguinity.html
Made sense and hope it helps you sort out what the record means in your 4th gr's marriage record.

Thanks so much for your help. When I go to this site it doesn't sound as closely related as I thought. Bonnie
