Im conducting research on my homes history - hence it's original builder. My home was built by a Henry Wood - born 1812,d. 1886 - not the Henry Wood more well known in my area born 1817. The original property deed dated 1839 names Hezekiah Wood 2nd as Henry's father. After much research I have not found a Henry as a son of a Hezekiah. Henry lived and died in Pound Ridge, NY - Westchester County. He married Amanda who passed away, then re-married a Rebecca. Do you have any information on this generation? Thanks very much in advance for any help you may provide. Eric Savitz

The Pound Ridge Historical Society has information on the Wood house of Pound Ridge. I know of the house. I don' t have any other information. There were alot of men named Henry Wood in Westchester County around that time. There were two or three from Pound Ridge, Lewisboro, South Salem, and Vista, New York.

in the book "a History of Katonah" is listed an Obediah Wood
married to Anne Roe, they were admitted to Christ Church,
in Salem,NY in 1754. This sounds somewhat similiar to
your family info but this one isn't a Jr and his child is listed
as William Wood with no mention of a dau Deborah.
Salen, NY would now be South Salem and it's in Westchester.
I am looking for info of my great grandfather, William H. Wood, mar. to Lydia Ann Boughton, both of Pound Ridge,
not too much luck yet.

My information is from church records, Obadiah and Anna
I know had 5 children, Anna, William a doctor, Deborah,
Milly and Mary.
They were all born in Salem, Westchester County.
I believe Obadiah's father was from England and married
Sarah Abbott, I have no more information on them. They
may have stayed in connecticut.

the book I got my info from has only the 1 child,William and
it says "he lived in Cross River,NY next to the cemetery, and
about 1794 moved to Cherry St.(Katonah,NY). He became a
surgeon's mate with the 4th New York Regiment in August,
1777, for a year." He married Abigail Smith and had 1 child, Squire Wood. The book also lists Squire's 7 children, and then
their children and so on...The book starts out by saying...
"Sons of Edmund Wood, coming from England in 1635, started the large Wood family in America. They settled in
Ma,Ct,Long Island and later in Westchester. One of these sons was Jonas. Jonathan, grandson of Jonas, was buried in
Wilton,Ct in 1732. Jonathan's grandson, Obediah Wood, and
his wife Anne Roe, were admitted to Christ Church in Salem,
NY in 1754. Obediah's brother,Ebenezer Wood(1731-1824)
married Rachael Lockwood".
I can copy these pages and send them if you'de like to have them. It seems to contain a lot of the descendants of William.

I don't know if there is a connection to this line, but I have been looking for the parents of my ancestor, Henry Wood born about 1753. Married Lucy Botsford in Connecticut. Lived in Faifield Co., Vt. for several years. Had three children: Elisha Kent Wood, and two daughters - one Anna. They moved to Vermont and Henry died there in 1821.
